I agree with the OP, it's sickening to watch politicians trying to capitalize on such an event to try to score political points........ It's a freaking memorial, not a political rally. What I saw on TV coverage definitely looked more like a political rally than a memorial. There were even idiots blaming this shooting on the "political discourse" in DC. Yeah, it had nothing to do with the crazy guy pulling the trigger, it was all because of the discourse in DC
Agreed, but at least Obama admitted that vitriolic political diatribes had nothing to do with this tragedy even as he attempts to capitalize on it. That was something. I suspect that this tee shirt thing is simply another crisis that shouldn't be wasted (like the Wellstone "memorial") but it might have been innocent and well-meaning, if very crass.

Seriously? at a memorial...handing out t-shirts with a catchy slogan? in blue and white? I think I'm a pretty moderate guy and that certainly made me raise an eyebrow...if there is a strategist behind this he's a freakin genius. of course if conservative news or politicians say anything about it they'll be crucified

Everytime I see "vitriol" and "wellstone", I imagine Glenn Beck standing up and clapping like Peewee Herman because someone said the secret talking point word of the day.

So the shooting happened last Saturday, at what point did the school decide they were gonna host this memorial and then go out and get t-shirts printed, seems like it would take a few days even if the order was rushed.
I think maybe the school was in on it from the beginning hmmm

You should seek professional physiological help before your imaginary Glenn Beck orders you to shoot someone.

It's not the slogan, it's that they made a slogan, and tee shirts, and passed out pamphlets at a memorial like it was a pep rally.

I think they were trying to help in the healing process by showing that we are not divided under such attacks. kinda like...

No, because it was supposed to be a memorial service, not a fucking pep rally.

My point is that if you think "Together We Thrive" tshirts are somehow distasteful, but not the "United We Stand" merchandise that became popular after 9/11, you're a hypocrite.

Wrap your pea brain around this ...it isn't the slogan, it's that they were sloganeering, and passing out tee shirts, and pamphlets at a memorial service like it was a high school pep rally.

How about you wrap your pee brain around your cognitive dissonance?

It was organized, by the University.

Hence, it became a political rally. Never let a good crisis go to waste, the new libertroll credo. The behavior of the MSM, leftie bloggers, the university, and that flamebag sherrif durring the horrific event have been so beneath contempt that there are no adequate words to describe it. These people are worse than everything that they claom to hate. Taking advantage of this tragic situation the way they did reduces them to the lowest form of humanity; they're as bad, or worse, than the Westboro Baptist pigs.

My heart goes out to the victims, their families, and the hurting people of AZ. That should have been the ONLY thing that people should have thought about right after this happened.

Both parties are guilty of exactly the same thing. It's neither parties 'fault' it's just what the political landscape has become in the States, and it's fucking wrong.

People are correct or wrong, left or right, liberal or conservative. In reality, nothing is that black and white.

Both parties are so opportunist that they have to take every opportunity to get a leg up on the other, it's tragic.
