Wow, thanks Anubis.

Yossarian - Money is but a tool which facilitates an end. Some people have different priorities....

yea and some have no money
<- 🙁

For 6 grand you can buy a faster system and pay for a return ticket for me to go to your house and fix it up for you, and still have change.

And some have more money than sense.

what's the fun in getting such an extreme system if you're not going to build it? how do you intend to upgrade when in half a yr, ur parts will become obsolete?

Truly ; a waste of money.

In two or three years, that system will BLOW. There will probably be a 6900 ULTRA or a 7800 ULTRA and the 6800 ULTRA will SUCK. I say just get ONE HIGH END PC with 1 VIDEO CARD and save up the money.

$6,000 isn't a lot if your parents need a babysitter and are paying for it.

Seriously that is ridiculous though. And raid 0 HAHAH why the hell would you want raid 0 on that. Waste of money and just another thing to reel the newbs into thinking they are getting the ultra l33t gaming machine

Check out falcon northwest

damn beat me to it, yea check Falcon NW they make better comps then both AW and Voodoo

Falcon NW > Voodoo > AW
for comps and service

alienwares cases also look like pure sh!t

and the FX-55 >>>> Xenon for gaming

and ho wthe hell is that costing 6K?

Actually, Alienware is #1 for customer service, and in most of the competitions between the 3 in Maximum PC, it's either been Voodoo or Alienware winning. Surprisingling Dell now has the best gaming laptop, finally beat out Voodoo.

Xenon is for servers, not gaming. It would be ridiculous to get that. But then so is spending $6k on a computer if it isn't a server...

I would go for a Falcon Northwest computer systems or Alienware. But if your going to spend 6 grand at least get 2 gigs of Ram and a 6800 Ultra.

Alienware customer support is a joke. A friend of mine bought one, paid way too much and was down for 2 months trying to get them to fix it under waranty.
We only live 25 miles away from them

$6000 😱

You could build a dual Opteron 250 w/ 2gigs of memory + 6800GT SLI for close to that amount...

Regards,
Jose

Let him spend the money. At least he's buying from a game shop instead of HP/Dell.
Some people are scared to build their own machine. If something goes wrong, they have no clue how to fix it. Most of us here are experts, so when a problem happens, we can trouble shoot it. Building a computer is only about 11 parts when you get down to it, but there's a lot of bumps in any build. I'm sure he'll continue to read these forums, and learn how to build his own machine.

robarrieta,
You need to get hooked up with phantomracoon... She also has tons of cash for hardware!

NoGodforMe:

You're exactly right. As I read this forum, I'm leaning more and more towards building my own system. Did you build your own and if so, any major issues? Thanks.

omg 6000$$$ More power to you if you have that kinda dough, but you could do way better building it yourself unless that is you dont want to bother with the build. You could build it yourself for about 1500$ less give or take 100$ and get the same performance! As far as the system you outlined ; its as fast as they get. You cant go wrong with either company, but I would be willing to bet that Alienware is just as fast if not faster in some cases, than the voodoo!

Thanks. I've considered building it myslef but knowing me, something would go wrong and I would end up throwing the damn thing against the wall in frustration...

Ok. Send me $5000 and I'll put one together for you. 😉
