On a serious note...Rollo, you have more people against you and your comments everyday...Wheres you good tech advice at ?

You Flame and trash people (a certian company) in every thread you reply too...Whats you main goal with all this ?

No name calling or the such, but do video cards mean that much to you ?

Maybe if you were one of the Tech guys at Nvidia that helped invent the SLI idea for Nvidia, I could could see you taking the SLI threads somewhat to heart...but even if you were, you yourself know that some people are not gonna like it no matter what, so why fight about it ?

Your game experience will be kickass. If you are rich and you want to have some fun, buy one (or two) of everything, experiment, and sell the ones you don't like-- or give them to the homeless. ;)

I'd say you need to be rich to OC a 6800GT- who else can risk damaging it and having to buy a new one?

In general it's always better to get one faster card rather than two slower cards.

Alas, there are no single cards that are even close to faster than my 6800GT SLI set. :(

This fall we'll be able to test your advice;however, this fall SLId G70s will be the thing to have, so a single card will still be a bad buy for the high end gamer. :( :(

Do you have any clue what you are talking about?

You ask about his good tech advice. If i recall, he made multiple threads with multiple benchmarks in each thread, with multiple video cards; all of this on his own time with his own money. When you make a guide or something similiar then you can critique someone, but not until.

It would seem, since we are posting in the computer forums and all, that computers (Video Cards) do mean enough to us to argue about.

I have not heard him trash ATI, or Matrox, or XGI. Last i checked, he simply said SLI is the fastest, he doesn't like ATI's strategy with the X800's but thinks they are superb cards, and also believes that the Geforce 6 series although not leading in performance are a better long term choice. Where do you see a problem with any of this? I mean the guy went and bought an X800XTPE, you can hardly call that bias.

As for flaming and trashing. You call him out in particular; yet, everyone in this forums does it, has done it, or will do it. YOu cannot single someone out in this category unless it is excessive, in which case it is not.

Next time before you mindlessly insult someone, bringing the thread completely off topic, try to remember to think before you post ;)

You don't make me mad Ackmed.

I was only pointing out that calling my offer of burying the past with Creig and moving forward on a friendlier note "hypocrisy" is trolling because:

A. Unless you're God or some sort of mindreader, you have no idea the spirit my offer was made in. You don't know me, you don't know my thoughts, you simply injected a hateful little jab in because my own agenda (to promote the nV40 line till something better comes along) doesn't match your own.

B. "Hypocrisy" would imply I'm saying one thing and doing another. As I just "extended the olive branch" whether I'm a hypocrite remains to be seen. Feel free to call me a hypocrite if I bash Creig's 9500NP again in the future. Unless you can travel through time, you have no idea what will transpire between Creig and I.

So I reiterate, "Please take your pointless trolling elsewhere".

this isnt the first time he's stupidly accused someone of hypocrisy!! he's also accused me before on some silly issue about the inquirer....

lol based on that thread it sure seems he has made some good contribution to these forums.

You can't forget his "contribution" of showing up anytime I post something to disagree!

This is a good marketing post for Nvidia, how much are they REALLY paying you to kiss their ass like you do ?
How could we live w/o those words of wisdom?

You must be getting payed by Nvidia ??
Yep, good info here too....

IMHO I don't see this as trashing per say, he says that people should organize to make ATI improve their drivers, not the cards themselves, I personally see a difference.

How did I trash ATI in that thread?

Do you mean the part where I said the thread was intended as a joke, a spoof of the "anti-SLI threads" that had been popping up lately?
How anyone could have thought this was serious is beyond me.

Only posted as a parody of the "SLI doesn't work with shutter glasses- can nVidia do anything right" thread.

Or
This thread is a parody of this thread. I was lampooning what I see as the ridiculous nature of posting something as meaningless as SLI not working with stereoscopic glasses as a "news" item.

"Oh noes! Our old 3d glasses from Geforce 4 days don't work!"

Or
To be honest, I'm fairly shocked anyone took it seriously. I never have and never will post junk like this.
(and I tried to make make it pretty obvious I was joking with the
quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lock-ups with the Gamma slider?!?! Why oh why can't we adjust GAMMA?!? Waaaaaaaahhhh!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

type comments?)

Or
dguy!
I have posted at least three times in this thread that I am not trying to point out problems with ATI cards, I'm trying to point out problems with some recent anti-SLI threads.

I guess if you want to say I'm bashing ATI in this thread, after I posted FOUR TIMES in the thread that is was meant as a joke and had nothjing to do with ATI, I can't help you.
It should be pretty plain to anyone else I don't care about ATIs driver issues.

Maybe you need to go through my old posts, like this one wherein I state:
A flamewar over an unreleased card having issues with a game would be sad indeed.

I say the R520 gets to have driver issues like all other new tech does- the only people who don't realize/admit that are little flamers wishing to incite arguments.

I don't know if I can remember a new gpu coming out that didn't have driver issues, so I fully expect the R520 to have issues ATI will address as soon as they can.

to get a better feel for what I think about ATI before flaming me?

Your a joke.

You get "offended" because people are making threads about SLI that you dont like because, well we all know why.

So you go make an anti-ATI thread?

I understand now.

I'd get offending too if people dissed my hardware.

No one talks about my hardware like that..

If you say somthing negative about SLI, rollo takes it like your saying somthign about his mother.

He didn't make an anti-ATI thread. It was a parodial response to the anti-SLI threads.

YOu are being a complete idiot of late! Anyone who read that thread you are referring to can easily tell that Rollo was making a parody thread for the sole purpose of insulting Bar81's previous rant.

Right now you are trying to make something out of nothing and start problems. Why dont you just quit right now and save heartache.

A lot of folks need to get their head out of the cave. SLI is up to you, if you got the money and want to bling up your system. Its your money. If the geeks in here laugh at you, who cares!?

If you have the money to burn and it makes you happy then so be it.

The rest of the world is burning money on hummers, BMWs, Ferraris, and all sorts of expensive toys and you boys are making a big deal about $800?

It's better to get one 6800 Ultra because the two 6600 GTs will be bottlenecked in the majority of cases (theoretically). Their memory bus width isn't wide enough to accomodate extremely high-res, high-AA like the 6800 Ultra's is. In SLI, 128-bit+128-bit is still 128-bit. That makes the 6800 Ultra (256-bit) the better card. I actually recommend you get the 6800 GT, save a lot of dough, and still get excellent performance. It would help to know what you'd like to play, how often you buy a video card, and if the interface is AGP or PCI-E.

To the OP, dont get 2x6600GT's. The single card is a better choice most of the time. Especially since the 6800GT/Ultra's have dropped in price so much.

All this because I pointed our you being a hypocrite.

You said, "Why would you laugh at someone for their choice of video cards?" When you hav done just that many times before. On various forums as well. Get over it.

I didnt call you a hypocrite in that thread. What I said was that your post was silly. Because you said that it will take PC's two years to catch up to consoles. Which is just plain silly.

(Emphasis added)

It certainly should, since SLI is not available (or as the Japanese say, in a completely off-topic manner, "abailable") in AGP mode, right?

DX10 isn't the next spec, it is WGF 1.0 IIRC. Also notice the  smiley. I guess you didn't pick up on the comment.
