In general it's always better to get one faster card rather than two slower cards.

Alas, there are no single cards that are even close to faster than my 6800GT SLI set. 🙁

This fall we'll be able to test your advice;however, this fall SLId G70s will be the thing to have, so a single card will still be a bad buy for the high end gamer. 🙁 🙁

I don't think the point here is that there is a single card faster then a high end (6800GT or Ultra) SLI rig, but rather that it would make more sense to go with a single high end card as opposed to getting a dual 6600GT SLI rig.

In that case it just boils down to getting what you can afford. If the single 6800GT is that expensive where you are, I don't imagine that two 6600GT's would be very cheap either.

A system doesnt have to be the fastest, to play games.

Since you claim that a single card is a "bad buy" for a high end gamer, how do you explain the last several years? A single card can play games at a very high res, and with lots of eye candy, and very playable frames. SLI is great when working right, and is the fastest, but dont try and push SLI as the only way to play games, because it is not.

Its your OPINION that no single card is "even close" to your SLI cards.

You are taking this far too personal, time for a holiday.

Just what is it they give holidays for here? Oh yeah! Name calling and flaming!

So, you can keep up the good work.

If everyone who flames regularly was given a vacation alot of people from video would be getting a vacation, personally I'd welcome that at least then video would actually be useful and not a constant flame war.

Apparantly its selective. ronin calls people names all the time, then threatens to get people banned. Playing favorites is never good when in a power position.

Quite right. 🙂
For the price of a 6800GT here, you can get an Ultra there. For a 6600GT, you can get a 6800GT, etc.

He is a moderator at the Nvidia forums. SO he has that power.

I couldn't give less of a sh!t if you threaten to get me banned. What have I done wrong. Lets see i called you an idiot... Oooooooh; and i said sh!t..... OOOOOOOOOH!

It was pro ATI? That would be a first.

Please quote where we said it was pro-ATI. Hell quote where we said it was pro Nvidia. It was only a parody to Bar's thread. Maybe you should stop trying to find faults with every little thing said.

What is your definition of Opinion!?!?!? Performance wise it is a fact. There is quantitative data to support this. What you said is like me saying: "That wall is invisible". THere is no such thing as invisibility, nor is the wall invisible.

Unless you are a Doom3 fanatic, I recommend you to buy an ATI X850XT. IMHO it plays more "fluid" (difficult to describe with words).

As i said in another thread. Why pay so much more money for a card that is around 15fps faster and neither of the cards are anywhere near unplayable?

That's nice but where did the OP ever present such a scenario?

The OP didn't, you did:

The OP is obviously better off with a 6800U than 6600GT SLI unless he has some very specific needs, like running 20X15 0X16X.

You really haven't given enough information for us to be able to make any sort of useful recommendation. We would need to know what your current components are, what games/applications you intend to use and the maximum amount you want to spend.

Ah, OK, I thought it was some polite term for "newbie", since I've seen "OP" posted in such threads.

No offence, wallrunner, didn't mean ya. 🙂
