Here's the CE unboxed:

ZSWUnboxed.jpg

The music CD contains 8 tracks of very nicely done full symphony orchestra treatments of a number of Zelda classics and music from the game. Would have been nice if it were more than just 8 but they are well done. I'm glad to say the Wii Mote doesn't feel really cheap.

And, now that the review floodgates are open:

http://www.metacritic.com/game/wii/the-legend-of-zelda-skyward-sword/critic-reviews

update:Strange Gamespot gives it 7.5. Why? Bad controls. Which is VERY strange cause every other review out there has claimed that the controls are actually one of the most amazing things about the game. Wonder if one of the commenters on their video review is correct, that the reviewer forgot to use Wii Motion Plus? Or maybe there was something wrong with the Wii he used it on? That would be an epic fail if so. Not saying the score isn't deserved just seems odd when every other review sites has been scoring so high (even those that aren't traditionally bought out LIKE Gamespot).

Preordered the CE of the game. Note you will need Wii Motion Plus to play the game so if you don't have it take a look at the CE as it comes with a golden Wiimote with Wii Motion+ built in.

Here's some ingame play footage for those who haven't seen it. Obviously this is from the Japanese version.

I have the CE preordered as well. It is a really nice bundle for the Wii Motion + controller.

The lack of reviews have me worried. In my experience when companies embargo reviews until release date they typically have bad reviews. I love Zelda, but I am not excited about this game for some reason. I wish they would have waited for the Wii U.

Nintendo tends not to disappoint with any of their big name franchise releases (outside of fan boy whining). At least that's been my experienced. But then having loved every single Zelda and Mario game I've ever played I guess I'm biased. And there's ALWAYS lets wait for the next gen hardware. Of all the companies out there though Nintendo is the one where this makes the LEAST sense. All their franchise games have been about the art direction, style, and gameplay, graphics has always come a distant 3rd or 4th.

It isn't out for a while. Reviews will probably come in closer to release..which is how it is for all releases.

I'm excited for a truly Wii Zelda, after the disappointment of Twilight Princess.

To pre-order or not to pre-order, that is the question.

BTW, that review in the OP was taken down :(

I tried beating Twilight Princess this past week but never finished it. I got to the Sky Temple then had to return it. I just couldn't get into it and the only reason I kept playing was to have something to do.

I'll be playing this game during the holidays just like I did with Ocarina of Time 12 years ago. :)

A lot of reviewers I respect are saying great things.

But I still can't shake the fact that with the lack of voice acting, that I'd still be playing some sort of retro game. I'm really bothered by that omission. In a world where skryim is coming out now and pushing all the boundaries, and oblivion was what...6 years ago? Having to read text off my HDTV just seems so archaic.

It's something I still need to play, but I should be more excited than I am.

This is the 2nd game in the past couple of weeks to receive a perfect 10 from IGN.

God damn it, now I wanna buy a Wii again.

I am now going to buy the CE version of this game. IGN said it was the best zelda title ever. That is a huge statement! If this beats or even is on par with a link to the past, I will seriously be impressed.

the metroid comment makes me wonder if the reviewer has played other zelda games.

I can't speak for Skyrim because I haven't played it. But Oblivion would have been much better if it had been text only. They had hundreds of NPC's and used a whopping 4 voice actors for all of them (2 male, 2 female) I don't see how anyone could get into a game when the last 5 characters, who were all totally different races all sounded exactly the same because the same dude was doing their dialog.

I'm willing to suspend that amount of disbelief. Having everyone voiced, even if it wasn't perfect, was a revolution. But Zelda doesn't even need that level of voice acting. Just the same treatment that every other game has had for the better part of a decade.

It's just a really stark contrast between those who are willing to go all out and push the limits of what's expected, and those stuck in the stone age. Silent movies died off when the tech moved forward. The same needs to happen for games. And it has...with few exceptions.

I'm sure it's otherwise still a great game.

You're the kind of person who looks at a Manet and says it would look better if the brush strokes weren't so obvious.

Honestly, voice acting in Zelda would ruin it for me. I'm glad they didn't have any.
