I'm only up to level 7 on a High Elf Mage, but I wish they'd implement a way to skip the "tutorial" as I'd like to play with a few chars to see which I'd rather carry through the game ...

My lvl 42 wood elf sneak/archer does pretty well. I wish I could have been smarter with my perks (several wasted with my wife driving back seat). All the points put in to restoration and destruction would have definitely been better spent on enchantment and/or alchemy to create more powerful gear. I'm saving up my precious and slowly acquired perks now to improve those. My resistances are weak as shit though. Need to beef those up as well.

I'm happy that an archer remains viable path at 40+ level characters, unlike in Oblivion where enemies seemed to level past archery's effective damage range.

I debated that, but the whole series is kind of about that... and no one said anything about it until now...

You have a strange rational my friend, but I'm trying to help out the people in this forum so I'll try again.

(Elder Scrolls series spoiler here)
An actual Elder Scroll is rarely even seen or talked about in the series. In fact that the only other time in the history of the series an Elder Scroll is actually touched by the player (to some degree) is in Oblivion. It's handled differently than it is in Skyrim, but that's it.

I don't know how far you are into the game but it plays a significant roll at the end of Skyrim and mentioning the fact that you acquire one is pretty significant.

Folks are probably not saying anything about it because they are simply unaware, and haven't made it as far as you.

Again, you might want to reconsider.

I'm level 48, I use only the bound bow and wear un-enchanted dragon armor. The game is too easy with the stealth + magic build.

move the difficulty up a notch. I had to do that when I double enchanted my gear. The game got too easy.

My coworker was mentioning followers - does anyone use them? I know I could get my Housecarl, but I prefer to run around solo. Should that present a problem?

I leave my followers in my houses. I don't need any yahoos blowing my cover or giving my position away...

They work well as mules. I use Lydia when I'm hunting for loot.

Oh you so silly girl!
The name of the series is The Elder Scrolls.
;)

that was the point. You would expect to see those in a game if the title included it. Just like you would expect to see Zelda at some point in a Zelda game. :)

Now, if he said you get to turn into a dragon and run train on Whiterun, then that would be a spoiler. Although that never happens. but it should.

ever come home to find random people in your house with Lydia? I've come home to Whiterun guards, children and the elderly just standing in my living room. What kind of shady business is Lydia running out of my house?

They were talking to you when you zoned in. That for some reason zones them with you. It's a great way to kill random people without a bounty.

Last night I was running to a new place for a quest - the closest location is the base camp for the Greybeards. Anyways, I fast traveled to that town, then started walking - I love the scenery so I'm soaking it all in and spotted a dragon in the distance. I went over and started fighting it and I killed it with about 30% of my health remaining - when out of nowhere I hear this MWREAAAAAAAAAORRRRRW behind me (wearing surround headphones) and just as I turn around, this sabre tooth cat is already mid lunge and proceeds to eat my face. I can't explain my emotions - it was a freaking long walk, and I had the dragon down so I was disappointed, but at the same time I was just laughing because I felt the damn cat was stalking me to avenge the one I killed moments earlier as it's partner ran off.

Console version should be outlawed. Why aren't you guys playing this on PC? For shame.

My PC is six years old at this point. I'm building one at the end of January, and I didn't want to wait. My tentative plan is to buy the game again for the PC when my system is complete.

Along with what Beev said, I just prefer gaming on my console now.

Seriously, this. Aside from hating to keep PC upgrades in pace with current gen titles, gaming on my couch with a controller is a helluva lot more comfortable and fun for me.

But, this is a topic for another thread, which has already been endlessly covered.

I felt the damn cat was stalking me to avenge the one I killed moments earlier as it's partner ran off.

I think it would be awesome if enemies actively stalked you.

I can't confirm it was, but it likely could have been. Two sabre tooth cat's attacked me, and I killed one and got another close to dying before it ran off in the direction I ended up going towards the dragon. I like to think it was stalking me when I went after the dragon. ;)

Just finished the main quest at 65 hrs in at lvl 44. Also finished the civil war and dark brotherhood so far. Not bad for owning the game for 8 days :)

I'll knock out the thieves guild, mages guild, and companions tonight/tomorrow. Then I have 5 dragon priests left, 23 stones of barenziah to track down, a few more larceny targets, 13 more deadric artifacts, and a good handful of dragon words left to find.

Are there any other "collections" of things to get? I still only have the first house in whiterun as well :(

Have you played any of the previous TES games?
Again, this is the first time in the series you actually get an Elder Scroll and use it. The closest the player can ever come to something like that, in any TES game, is in Oblivion, and the interaction there is nowhere near as important as it is in Skyrim. In the Zelda series, the actual character Zelda is in every single game (in some form)--how does comparing the two make any sense?

Look the guy can do whatever he wants with his post. I was just making a recommendation with an explanation to support it. Personally I'd hate to have that part spoiled for me because I was utterly shocked when it happened!

I edited it way back after your first post. I can't do much more.
