This will be my first Bethseda PC game. How fast are they with addressing issues via patch? Given all the negative things I'm hearing about Bethseda I'm strongly considering holding off until they push their first patch out.

???

Slow, real real slow. As a matter of fact they usually dont even bother thats why there games have multiple unofficial community patches. So i would wait till the first community patch is out as its guranteed to fix alot more bugs than any official patch.

That's just crazy ! Do they patch console versions faster?

Good collector's items, just not $80 extra worth. Should have been priced like most CE and stuck with about $30 more.

I really had no intention on playing it on a console. I don't want to plunk 60 bucks down on a bunky pile of garbage either ... and I DO want to play this game. I guess maybe I've been spoiled w/ the relatively bugless console games of the past x number of years.

Don't play it on a console. The PC at least lets you download custom mods/unofficial patches to make the game more bearable.

This. Just look at Oblivion and the fan mod Nehirim which is basically a whole new game that just uses the Oblivion engine. But you can't play that if you bought the game on the console.

I'll probably be buying Skyrim during Steam's Christmas 2012 sale when the "Game of the Year Complete Edition" includes the game and 15 DLC packs for $25.

Good plan. Mods will be out, most of the bugs will be squashed, and you'll save around $200 and a lot of headaches.

By the time this gets patched up Diablo 3 will be out and no one will care about this game.

Really? I don't see how these games are alike at all. One is an isometric online hack & slash, while the other is a singleplayer, 3rd and/or 1st person RPG with a toolset that promises plenty of fan made content.

One does not replace the other. I will eventually get Skyrim at some point, but I will probably never get Diablo 3.

Hah, too true about the "Game of the Year" edition. I played Fallout 3 GotY on the PS3 and loved it. I wish I had waited to get New Vegas with all the DLCs in one go, because they are normally priced at $10 each. I just recently built a new PC and was very excited to see what New Vegas looked like. Oh well, hopefully there will be a nice Black Friday Steam sale so I can finish picking up titles that I didn't get during the summer sale.

Comes with a 1ft tall dragon statue, large 200 page coffee table art book, making of DVD, large cloth map.

In two years we'll be looking at the $200 Elder Scrolls VI CE that comes with a 10" mudcrab statue (which you make yourself from premium recycled cardboard), a "large" 150 page downloadable artbook, a making of video download code, and a "large" ogre loincloth with printed map detailing orge caves in the world meticulously crafted using "premium grade" cloth which you can proudly wear at your next LARP gathering.

That version will sell even better..

Hmm, I agree that they are both quite different. I loved the hell out of Oblivion, Diablo, and Diablo II, so I'll get both.

Hell with Heroes 6 just dropping, BF3 imminent, Diablo 3 *sometime in the next few years*, and Skyrim, I'm pretty happy.

I was looking forward to both games, but I am getting less enthusiastic about Diablo 3 unfortunately. Dont really like the emphasis on on-line play and the auction house thing they added. Sounds too much like an MMO. I might get it after a few reviews to see how true single player works.

I will probably get Skyrym right away.

That dragon is probably cheap plastic from china, I actually wouldn't mind a dragon statue if it was glass or wood but NOT plastic.

Pretty soon, CE editions will be $2000 and come with DvDs, books, figurines, branded iPad, a chair and a random kitchen sink.

Edit: I wonder what CE editions of erotic games will come with. This is an untapped market right here.

Is it just me or have they shot themselves in the foot with releasing a video of (or allowed it to be released?) the unboxing of the CE edition? The thing is... potential hyped buyers might watch it and say «What the... so that's what I was hyped for?!» and simply not buy the CE edition after all or even (perhaps in very rare cases) cancel the purchase of that version specifically and "just" go with the regular one instead.

I myself didn't want to buy the CE edition anyway, it doesn't affect me at all (the video), but after watching it I just had the proof that had I bought it and unboxed it myself I would have felt very, very bad inside and would have told myself "why couldn't you just buy the normal version you idiot...". I'm pretty sure... without being 100% certain of it that the video will cause more harm than good to the potential sales of the CE edition if it spreads enough by the time the game it released, and let's face it, we still have ten days to go.

I guess that in the end however the real problem (if it is one, and I think it is for many out there) isn't the actual material quality of the extra physical content you have in the package, but the price of it all. Like someone else said, a plastic statue is cheap, the map... you might look at it a few times then let it rest in the box forever after, the "making of" DVD there's YouTube for that (and believe me the whole thing will be uploaded either there or someplace else eventually). To each their own I guess.
