This is what's going to happen:

It looks great, but because having more than a single disc on the Xbox 360 costs publisher more, the world will be smaller than Oblivion was, because Bethesda isn't going to want to pay extra licensing for 2+ DVDs, so all platforms will suffer.

Later on, we'll get lots of paid DLC that adds more land mass and quests that were originally in the game, but were cut due to previously mentioned DVD restrictions.

Still looking forward to it, but with each game Bethesda releases, it becomes more and more obvious that they're an XBox 360 lead platform developer house.

Looking good. I'm glad they didn't just rehash the same engine.

After playing Oblvion, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas (plus Dragon Knight Saga) I'm kinda over that engine.

Hopefully they use this engine for Fallout 4 as well.

Eh, it is a semi rehash. You can tell in the video. A lot of the graphics scream oblivion, albeit a better looking oblivion.

I'm actually installing both morrowind GOTY and oblivion right now. I did spend quite some time playing morrowind but never really touched oblivion too much. So yeah... I'm gonna try to play the main quest of both before TES5 comes out :)

I'm ok with that. As long as the world is a little bigger and the dungeons more varied, I'll be happy. The main quest looks pretty good from what I've seen so far.

Yeah, the graphics are fine with me. I actually just tried Nehrim, and the graphics in that were good enough for me...

But yes, I hope they put more effort into the dungeons. I hope they cut back on the level scaling, actually make some stuff by hand instead of generating it, and put a bit more effort into the feel of their world. Oblivion felt so bland, generic, and uninspired. I assume most of the time was spent on getting used to gamebryo and trying (unsuccessfully) to implement radiant AI that the rest of the game got the cold shoulder.

I hope Skyrim is better :p

It's already been stated that it uses a scaling system similar to fallout 3. Also, there is a soft level cap instead of a hard one. Most of this stuff has been mentioned in the articles on gameinformer or neo-geo.

They were all very vague. The actual implementation could effect things drastically, and is still unknown

Despite the hours I sunk into Morrowind and Oblivion I didn't get anywhere near completing them.

To be honest I don't think I will bother with this new game. I started out with Morrowind and loved it but with each successive game after that I got bored with them quite quickly. I lasted about 3 hours with Fallout - it's like playing the same game again but with different graphics.

i reinstalled oblivion tonight...and didn't play it because it takes for fucking ever to get out of the sewers....i hope they dont have that problem in skyrim. It takes a good 45 minutes to even get started on oblivion which is such a turn off

I have finished all of the Elder Scrolls games on the PC with the best being Morrowind w/ Exps.

There's a mod for that, here's what it does:

Quickstart.esp:
* Modifies the charactergen script to move you to the exit from the starting sewers when you start a new game. You will start at the door which lets you modify your race, class, and birthsign before exiting into the exterior.
* Sets the quest stages for the main quest properly so you are at the same point you would be if you played through the charactergen dungeon normally.
* Adds a chest near the exit which contains a selection of items which you normally would have found from playing through the tutorial dungeon: light and heavy armor, weapons, lockpicks, potions, gold, torches.

It's a godsend after that first playthrough. Usual instqall procedure, bung it into the "Data" folder and mark it in the launcher.

ps: All credit to the mods author etc etc etc...

Just load a game saved at the sewer's exit. I have kept one of mine just for this as I replay often with different races, etc... You can also download them on mod sites.

problem is, whenever i reformat my pc it deletes all my saves off steam and I never remember to back them up...its like this with nearly every game I own...its such a pain in the ass to start back up I usually end up not playing.

I'll check that mod out.

But you're escorting Jon Luc Picard! Jon Luc Picard out of the sewers!!! Alone too, yum.

I remember the first time I got outdoors in Oblivion, and saw the Daedra ruins across the lake. I went straight in and cleared it out, then got completely weighed down trying to hump every single item out.

I completed Oblivion, and by completed I mean completed - every main and side quest, traveled the entire map, and then continued with mods. I have tried so many times to get into Morrowind, but I never get too far into it :(

I was going to give it another go after that huge Morrowind graphic overhaul mod came out, but now that it's taken down... :'(

The ones I remember were just saved games so you juxt copy them to your saves folder. Some are just listed under the character mods. People tend to save those characters just at the sewer exit so you can modify them.

My saves folder in Windows 7 is located at

C:\Users\Your user name\Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves

The vanilla sewer exit save here should be easiest to use of those 4.
