Really? The touch is mic-capable?

edit: looks like the 2nd gen is mic headset capable, but the 1st gen isn't. You can get a plugin mic adapter thing for the 1st gen though.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see why I would ever use it.. I never call international and I never even come close to exceeding my plan minutes.
Come to think of it, I don't even know anyone on skype that I would call to save THEM minutes..

Guess I'm not in their targeted user group.

Yea.. I think Skype works great for conference calling, International calls, and people who are ALWAYS on the phone. I don't fit into any of those demographics.

I just upgraded to unlimited minutes on my cell, no need for Skype now.

When (not if) cell carriers allow full Skype (or any VOIP) over the data networks, it'll be a game changer. No need for voice plans any longer...

You can bet that if that happens, you'll end up paying as much for a data plan as you're paying for data+voice. Adding capacity to cellular networks is not nearly as cheap as adding capacity to wired networks.

I doubt anyone with an iphone is the target. Now people may buy it for that reason, maybe.

nice. I have to call support a lot and the calls usually last a few hours (crappy software) so having the 1800 not count against me will be nice.

I'm in this group too. I make maybe 4 international calls a year, and 2 of those are Canada.

Don't all US carriers charge minutes for 800 calls? The only place i've been that didn't was the Netherlands.

I've never been charged, although I may have been under my minutes, I'm not sure. My billing cycle is near the end, so I'll make a bunch tomorrow & see.

EDIT: You guys are right. I just looked on the at&t webpage. Standard rates apply.

I only have 450 minutes per month and I call internationally. I use skype for my business calls so I'll be glad for this app.

Not to be a jerk, but what's so good about this? Fring has been out for a long time, and it supports Skype...

For those jailbroken, make sure to run cydia and update the Mobile Substrate, there were some major conflicts going on between the two but Saurik released an update that solved most of the problems.

Maybe canadians get shafted?

Somebody posted on Dailytech why. Apparently there's a dispute with the CRTC because it lacks e-911 service. Dumb. I mean it's a cell phone, it already has conventional 911 service for god's sake! It's more likely that Bell/Rogers didn't approve of people being able to make free long distance calls with it. The CRTC would be more than happy to keep the former in a monopoly.

I don't use iTunes much so maybe somebody can answer this. I know on the Playstation Network you can create more than one user account to access the European and Japanese stores. Can you do the same with iTunes?
