SKYCAR!!! I Freekin Want One!!!

<--Can any automobile give you this scenario? From your garage to your destination, the M400 Skycar cruises comfortably at 350+ MPH at 15 miles per gallon.-->

Who says no one else will also be "cruising" at 350+ MPH?

<--No traffic, no red lights, no speeding tickets. Just quiet direct transportation from point A to point B in a fraction of the time. -->

Yeah right, more like frightening explosions left and right.

I'm not saying this is a bad idea. I think flying vehicles would be really cool. I just disagree with all the bs on the webpage.

Naturally it will have to be regulated, and certain rules and situations will need to be avoided.. but if you read further it does have an emergency parachute :-D

Is anybody else humming the Jetsons theme song right now?

I'd love a personal aircraft, but I don't imagine these things are affordable (or legal?) yet.

Yea. This is the same guy. The article that I read was printed within the last year and the guy still never had one actually move at all. If I remember rightly he was building it in a glorified garage too

hmmmm didn't I see pictures on that page or early prototype units actually hovering about 10ft off the ground??

it seems to me that if you can get it off the ground and have the horizontal thrust engines work with the lift engines then it would work! a few years off yes.. vaporware? I don't think so..

I figure if the airforce still has probs with vertical takeoff and landing, this guy is not gonna be the first to perfect it (besides the British of course) 🙂

That is true... but im sure he makes his contributions to science nonetheless, and I would rather see the Govt spend money on this than I would a toilet seat or hammer 🙂

"Let's compare the M400 Skycar with what's available now, the automobile. Take the most technologically advanced automobile, the Ferrari, Porsche, Maserati, Lamborgini, or the more affordable Acura, Accord, or the like."

Uh, huh... right. Is "Lamborgini" the correct spelling? It looks wrong to me. And then "or the more affordable Acura, Accord, or the like." <- WTF? Acura and Accord... UH HUH.

It doesn't sound like he/she/it/they have the damnest clue what they're talking about.

"What good does all this "advanced engineering" do for you when the speed limit is around 60 MPH and you are stuck on crowded freeways anyway?"

This advanced engineering is what's saving the environment, saving lives, and making the world a safer and better place every day. Take a look at cars 50 years ago, and then look at todays vehicles. Far more fuel efficient, etc.

"Can any automobile give you this scenario? From your garage to your destination, the M400 Skycar cruises comfortably at 350+ MPH at 15 miles per gallon."

Wow, 15 mpg, that's amazing! NOT! 350+ MPH? Where would you land these things? What happens if you run out of gas when you're in the air? If you're in a car and you run out of gas, at least you don't crash down to your death.

"Fr. volant, to move in a nimble and agile manner"

Uh? "Volant" in french does not mean to move in a nimble and agile manner. I don't know about the latin "volare", but Volant means "flying". Example... "La patate volante" would be "the flying potato". Understand? Not the nimble and agile potato!!

I am seeing errors of all kinds on this site... I would not trust a product from somebody that can not spell and provide simple logic that isn't twisted/messed up.

The concept of flying vehicles is fascinating in itself, but this doesn't impress me.

sheesh! so many non believers... ok so the site is not perfect.. and the guy might be sorta whacked but in theory I think he has the right idea. And if you run out of gas of course you bail out and pop the chute just like any other airplane. I have grown to learn that Science Fiction doesn't exist... Science Fiction is just Science Future.. some examples:

Cloning
wristwatch phones
tiny TV's (wrist TV's)

all of which were once science fiction and are now science fact.
