<< but when I came back to campus this October I was displeased that my class's gift was trashed already, only 5 years after the fact. But what are you going to do when the University makes it so perfectly enticing for that kind of stuff? >>

ahhhhh! thank GOD i'm graduating! maybe i should remove that pic :p

dude, that is the PERFECT material and the PERFECT height...it was probably one of the worst decisions PSU has made to put that there!

sorry?

i don't even know what my class gift is...... :)

Nice. I enjoyed the backside 180s onto the concrete median. Give that guy some props. My friends and I are planning on making a skate video as well; my buddy has a camcorder with firewire output and such. Oh what fun!

Actually, the 1996 Class Gift was an endowment for those irreplaceable elm trees on the Mall. The monument exists just so there is tangible evidence of the gift and is a minor part of it (it's just a stone slab). When I first saw the monument with the marks on the side I was mortified, but only because I am sympathetic to BMX/MTB/skate activities did I look the other way. It's telling social commentary nonetheless and regrettably propogates the notion that today's college students lack moral structure (the infamous riots).

But I can't speak from a high horse without being hypocritical because I've had my share of "deeds" as an undergrad. Collegian newspaper bins make nice room adornments and who can graduate without their very own navy blue OPP license plate, preferrably with a four digit number of relevance to them?

My little brother's (high school senior) friends made a video, thery did a DAMN GOOD job on it too. The whole thing's about an hour long, but I'm uploading a clip from it (3:38) to my webspace right now.

here's the link.

It uses DIVX4, and is 12mb.

Hope you like it. Let me know what you think.

You all are a bunch of pop shove-it freaks!
Do you have a skate park in your neck of the woods?
I live in the D/FW area they have like 4 skate parks in the metroplex.
2 more World Class ones coming in 2002.
I just started skating again.
Much fun...

Actually, this kinda proves the value of a Penn State degree. Think about it: somebody posts a link to their college website - making a random post on a random forum - and EIGHT MINUTES LATER, not only does an alumni of the school recognize the pics, but he realizes his class's gift is involved and types a response. 8 minutes, just like that. I know Sohcrates had NO idea what he was getting into...thought he was just innocently making a post. :D

Penn State is a force...there are Penn Staters everywhere and you never know when you will bump into one. VERY helpful on the job market because the "saturation" of alumni is intense, especially here in PA.

VERY good point! the "name" was a big part of my decision to go here.

In fact, i'm going down to DC to work and it turns out that my BOSS of all people is an alumni AND comes up just about every weekend! but i'm SURE that had NOTHING to do with my getting the job :)

Well the second clip isn't suppose to have any good skating. I just took that part out of our completed 25 min video. I wanna see videos Sohcrates! :)

Yah the one who does the 180 down the stairs (Aaron) is really good. He's in most of that clip cause he can do a lot of cool stuff.

notfred: Oh it's encoded with divx 4.01 or something? I'll get that codec when I get home today cause I still have 3.11 alpha.
