Of course, this happened in Florida. Basically a substitute teacher decided to engage with a 6th grade boy (11 or 12 yo) about his refusal to stand for the flag that included telling him to go back to where he is from or find somewhere else to live. Obviously the kid gets upset and is then arrests on BS charges, basically proving his point that America is full of racists.

I actually have a coworker who's kid on Friday acted out a part of some Disney cartoon that summons demons. The teacher went nuts, called his parents to tell them how terrible it was and demanded that they make him apologize and admit he was doing something evil. She then claimed she was going to call the parents of every kid that saw it to let them know they had been exposed to evilness.

Why can't adults just leave their beliefs at home and not bully kids with their crap.

He threatened the teacher.

Zero tolerance.
Might need to read that again. He made threats after being lead out by the police officer after an adult teacher told him to go back to where he was from for exercising his constitutional rights. Its pretty sad that in America an adult can treat a child like shit and then get the child arrested for being upset about it.

More than likely there will be a lawsuit and a payout because adult educators can't learn to treat children with respect and the only way many cops know how to deal with something is arresting someone.

You have no clue what classrooms are like these days. I have several friends who teach. It's a disaster.

I just read another report that the 11 year-old child was black and this teacher told him to go back to where he's from. There is a pretty decent chance his lineage in the US goes back further than most of the non-black kids in that school.

It tends to get that way when teachers actively engage, bully, and belittle children for exercising their constitution rights. But I guess just like how blacks have to be the professionals when dealing with the police, black children must be the adults when dealing with adults.

BTW: I also have several friends and family members that are teachers, some that teach in inner city schools. The schools have their issues, but I've never heard of anything like this happening to them. Probably because they know how to behave like adults.

There are a lot deeper issues here.

The teacher did what she should have: she contacted the office. She's now being hung out to dry by the school.

Do you guys realize that's what teachers face nowadays? It doesn't matter how disruptive or disrespectful the kids in your class are, if you call in what the administration deems are too many complaints they let you go because you've "lost control of your classroom" and "can't handle students".

So what options do teachers have? They just let the students play fortnite and retake quizzes and tests until they pass. One of my friends is three years from a pension and doesn't know if he can make it. Luckily his wife has a good job.

She's an immigrant from Cuba. She said "If I felt like this country was treating me poorly I'd find somewhere else to live".

What option did she have? IDK, not engaging and bullying a child about not standing up for the pledge of allegiance?

The teacher did not do what she should have done. She should've kept her mouth shut about him not standing up. Or disengaged after he said that is was racist, realizing nothing good was going to come out of continuing the conversation. She only contacted the office after she told him to go back to Africa.

And here we go........

No middle ground.

The middle ground should've been the police office and dean realizing what a cluster the teacher started, removed the kid from the room, give him some time to calm down and then let him return to his next class or take the day off to cool off. Then fire the teacher (like it appears they did).

What is the middle ground in arresting a kid that was just bullied by a teacher?

She didn't tell him to go back to Africa.

The middle schooler’s mother said Alvarez “told my son to go back to his homeland,” WTSP reported.

“He was confused,” Talbot told WTSP. “He said, ‘What do you mean? Africa?’ She said, ‘Yeah.’”

lol

What do you expect his MOTHER to say? The teacher didn't say to go back to Africa. She asked him why he came to the US if he hates it so much.

Big difference.

Considering his ancestors were probably brought to the US against their will in a slave ship, that is a pretty shitty thing to ask, don't you think? That is if you completely ignore what the boy/mother claim was said.
