D00d, no offense, but how in the freaking hell do you people post about how to you want to build a PC last Christmas, saying then you've been waiting for half a year to build, & now, 3 months later, you're still waiting, now for the 7900s?

WTF

I was giving you advice on building your rig a freakin' half a year ago...advice now was basically a waste, since you're never going to actually build anyway.

Hey man, don't forget that G71 (the 7900s) are merely a refresh. What you really want to do is wait for G80...heck why not wait till next year...there'll be newer stuff then...

Nah, sorry for being so negative, but i guess it kinda annoys me that to an extent, you're wasting posters' time when you really don't seem to know how to make up your mind.

Anyway, good luck...when you do decide to build in 2010 ;)

Na man you're posts weren't a waste! I've learned a ton from all the great posts from everyone!
I'm really sorry if you think you've wasted your time. You certainly have been a huge help!!

On a thread I asked if I should get the 7800GT and a guy suggested just waiting for the 7900GT to come out within a week and he said they would be about 300 just like the 7800Gt.... True?

If I were to buy the CPU tomorrow would you suggest the X2 still?

Dude, there is seriously NOTHING WRONG with waiting. The last thing you would ever want to do is buy something you have absolutely no information about. If anyone and i mean anyone ever presures you to buy something, you'll regret it, and be bitter about it if something goes wrong.

Also on that note, the X2's are nice chips, personally, if ur not in a rush, wait a few more months for the AM2 platforms to take place. Also, id do a bit more research on the prestlers that are out. When i bought my x2, the smithfields were all that was availble and they seriously sucked. Im hearing a lot of good reviews on the prestlers tho. Also, its a good idea to wait on the video card especially. Prices for the 7800's are gonna drop, and the 7900's should be coming out soon. Thats the only reason why im back to my 6800gt's.

So, with that note, dont let anyone pressure u into buying crap yet. Once ur heart is set on exactly what you want, and how your going to build it, then u should start buying. Not because a bunch of people on this forum says this is good, oh this is better.

Though I'm starting to agree with Greenman.

I agree to a point. In some cases waiting is good... until six months later and you still haven't build the computer... two years later and you still haven't built the computer... when does the madness end? There really isn't any terrible time to buy a computer. Word out is that socket AM2 isn't going to perform better initially for the price premium (oh, but you can always wait ½-1 year for the platform to mature  ). Also, if the 7900GT is coming out, that explains the 7800GT selling for as low as $240... at those prices you won't be disappointed.

My point is that at some time you'll just have to jump right in and say "now is the time" and then prove it by buying the parts. While harobikes333 may have learned much from asking, still n7 is right in that the advice may not be as valid months down the line. Just ask again when you (harobikes333) are a WEEK away from buying the parts.
