In all fairness I imagine it will be a much better unit than the MyFi (based on the excellent design of the S50). I haven't seen a single review of the MyFi that didn't pick it apart for its spotty reception. I don't see this as XM's fault, exactly, in that satellite broadcasting generally requires line-of-sight, but they are the ones who brought it to market. I will be curious whether Sirius can do better. Theoretically I guess their "statistical multiplexing" and ground repeaters may help, but I have to wonder whether a portable satellite radio can ever work flawlessly.

Personally I am a huge Stern fan, and would never have considered XM, but obviously YMMV. It seems to me XM's loss of truly commercial-free music (apparently an outgrowth of their partial ownership by Clear Channel) would be annoying, as well. To each, his own, in any case.

But they still have MORE commercial-free channels than Sirius. When the channels that added commercials went live, XM also added several additional new commercial-free stations at the same time to offset the commercials.

Touche. I would still be wary of the intervention of Clear Channel, however. I must admit, though, that if it weren't for Howard I would almost certainly never have subscribed to either, and I don't know that adding commercials to a handful of XM channels would have deterred me were I leaning that way.

It seems to me that Sirius is, at this point, hungrier, and they are making the rights moves from a business standpoint. Sirius is definitely the hotter item at retail, and XM recently had to back away from its EOY sales projections. We shall see. Honestly it wouldn't bother me to see them merge, but at this point I am happy rooting for the little guy.

Have you used the Myfi? Have you used Sirius? The MyFi was garbage. It was worthless as a portable unit. If you had it docked in your car, or docked at home you were good to go....which is what every other Sat Radio receiver can do. Well worth the initial $330 MSRP. :roll:

People, we're talking about 67 channels VS 69 channel. For you to choose a Sat radio company, you need to look at the music. Personally, I think Sirius has better music stations. Not everyone is going to agree with me. Then you add NFL & NBA? No contest IMO.

This whole "most commercial-free music in satellite radio" is just for bragging rights. Again, like most things in life, it's about quality, not quantity.
