Still a most overused:

MOTIVE

Particularly when it comes up on the news with respect to somebody engaging in an act of terrorism such as the one a couple days ago in Atlanta, gunman shoots up CDC, killing officer. Died from a gunshot wound himself, last I heard not known if self-inflicted or otherwise.

They said he had a bad reaction to covid vaccine, made him sick and he turned into an anti-vaxxer. Motive? Gimme a break.
