Since when did water have calories?

I still buy junk food on occasion, but I'll buy like a candy bar or one of those single-serving ice cream containers instead of a pack of 10 bars and a quart of ice cream.

When you get in the junk food groove, more isn't enough. I used to drink a ton of soda(~2L per day), but I've really cut down over the last year or so. I still like Coke, but not in the quantities I used to drink. Now I'm cool with a 10oz vintage bottle, and use water and unsweetened tea for hydration. I can't do the sugar like I used to.

This rant is ridiculous.

You just can't imagine people actually taking into account the calories in this stuff. When I do cardio, I get hungry. Why would I waste it on flavored water with over 80-100 calories? That's really besides the point.

We are still talking about water with calories in it. The one thing or term in our dietary lives that we could identify of having absolutely no nutritional value other than the fact that it keeps us alive is now pasted on a label of fructose fruit flavored bullshit.

What's the big deal? They tell you exactly what's in it so you can make your own opinion on if it's what you're looking for or not. It's not like they're telling you it's only water and then all the other crap is hidden... no, they tell you right on the label. Quit whining

it's clearly not the end of the world, but it's disingenuous for a company to imply that it's selling a healthy product when it's pretty much just sugar water and not significantly different than drinking a coke.

*shrugs* That's how marketing works. It's definitely not new, nor is this really a bad enough case of it to throw a fit. Personally I've never even heard of the stuff so they're marketing is pretty terrible in the first place. I could understand if it was a blatant lie and nothing on the packaging helped to remedy that lie, but the fact is that it IS right there for all to read so it's your own fault at that point for ignoring the facts.

That is hugely different than Coke, which employs High Fructose Corn Syrup. And 2x - 3x as much.

What I try and do is stick with the "healthier" variants of items. Like if I'm going to buy ice cream, it'll actually either be frozen yogurt or no sugar ice cream. I was actually a little worried about the whole no sugar stuff tasting bad, but I got some Blue Bunny Double Strawberry No Sugar ice cream, and it's actually pretty good and not chock-full of calories, fat, etc.

That's why I mostly stick to diet drinks. I honestly used to hate diet drinks mostly because I couldn't stand their taste, but when I just sat down and thought logically about how I would literally drink more than half of my recommended daily caloric intake ... you know, it's just something that smacks you upside the head and says, "duh!" Now I mostly just drink diet sodas (usually caffeine free too) and filtered (Brita... PUR is kinda meh) water.

my grocery expenses are roughly the same now (with me at 165) as they were when I weighed 450... I do eat out a shitton less, though.

Wow, you lost that much weight? I think congratulations are in order. I weigh 335 (down from 345 a few months back), and it's a struggle to lose weight.

I've started cutting out those Arizona iced teas (250-280cal ea), I used to drink four a day, and am drinking mainly water instead. But since it's summer, I go for a slushie or two sometimes. Have no idea how many calories are in one of those, but they are flavored sugar-water for sure.

You drink 4 Arizona Ice-teas a day and you wonder why you struggle to lose weight?

Morning - Breakfast
Day - Lunch
Night - Dinner

Why put anything else in your mouth except water in between?

Because it tastes good?

That's the answer for most people who put other things in their mouth in between.

o....m....g.... Wow. My jaw dropped multiple times reading that. Thank god I don't drink anything on that list (or things like it).

SoBe Lifewater is good stuff if you're not drinking pure water.

It's chemical composition has not been altered. There still is H2O, and that is not different by adding crap to it. More accurately there are other chemical compounds dissolved in H2O.

It is still water though 😉

1)
It's not best to stick to 3 meals a day for everyone.

2)
If those meals are portioned and prepared correctly, you can easily add calories in-between.
