Simple Power Switch Mod Question....

I am interested in doing a somewhat simple mod for my system. (I am about to put a 120mm fan on the side of my case when i get a hole saw). I want to make a power and perhaps reset button(s) on the back of my case. They will probably be identical to create. I was thinking of somehow splitting the cable that runs from my case and connects to the motherboard. I would prefer to be able to power on the system from either the front button or new back button. Also what kind of switch or button would I need? Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

Any momentary contact switch would work. The simplest would probably be a push button switch like seen here but there are also momentary toggle switches etc. Basically anything that is a momentary switch will work. I myself am pondering the idea of finding a working ignition switch from a car to act as the power switch for my computer.

Thanks for the response. So if I got the momentary switch that you linked in your reply, all I would need to do is connect 2 wires to the wire that is currently connecting my case to my motherboard? Just strip the wire a little bit near the middle and connect it with some electrical tape? Assuming I connect the ground and lead wires correctly

yep that would do it...and you don't even have to worry about polarity (which wire is which) with switches. There is no right way to put on a switch...no correction there is no wrong way to connect a switch.
