Silly egg question

If you're putting it in a shake, might as well be raw. I see no reason to put a boiled egg in a shake, even with a blender.
 
Are raw eggs still safe to eat nowadays? After watching Food Inc, looks like industry standards have taken a nosedive over time. I wouldn't even be asking this decades ago.

The odds of getting salmonella are apparently very low. I wouldn't worry about this more than anything else.

The odds of getting a tainted egg are EXTREMELY low. Its one of those situations where the media blew something way out of proportion in a [HelenLovejoy]Somebody PLEASE think of the children!![/HelenLovejoy] kind of way.
 
the US is about the only place on the planet where eggs are sold in the refrigerator case.
 
It's the entirety of North America. It's that 'colder is better" mentality.

People get all grossed out when I go to make breakfast with eggs that have been on the counter for a couple days.

Well, cold reduces bacteria proliferation. It makes logical sense to apply it to eggs, which can possibly be contaminated with salmonella. Although it makes sense through logic, reality shows that refrigerating eggs isn't really necessary. It's already part of the practice now though so it's hard to change what people expect farmers/companies to do.
