I just got an email from a client requesting a new PC be deployed to her here at work.
She gave me very specific hardware requirements in the email... thought you might get a kick out of this... 🙂

Subject: New desktop.

Adam I am in need of a new computer at my desk. This one is too slow and does not perform the tasks required to do my job. Please get me a computer with the hardware listed as fast as you can.

CPU fast as possible
RAM 8 gig
Hard Drive 1 Terrabyte
LAN 1 Gigabyte connection wireless enabled please
This needs to be a laptop as well

Thanks

Wondering how I should reply to this... 😀 Apparently laptops are considered desktops now too... haha 🙂

"I'll process this request in 2009 when this laptop exists." haha 🙂

Spec out as uber a laptop as is available and show her the cost and say that you'll need management's approval. 😉

I'm sure there are computers that would meet those specifications and be portable.

if by "portable" you mean "weighs 50 pounds and is encased in a giant aluminum power and is as portable as your extension cord" then yes.

as for the wi-fi speed, you could hit that with a coupla AMD (and V-TEC) stickers next to the antenna, no problem.

edit: holy christ never mind. these are awesome!

There was no mention of a battery in the requirement.

😉

It has some PCI slots as well so you can through in a 10 Gigabit network card in there.
