And, btw, if I am willing to spend 200, ok, whats 2.50 I'll go up to 202.50, while just another 2.50 and I'll be protected a little more. This trend continues until the items price is touted up to a lovely $250. This is why one can often see prices on ebay that are higher than the market price would be where a poll of "How much would you pay for this?" were taken.

I've gotten tired of losing an auction because someone snipes it from me like a second before the auction closes. Here is the link and the petition statement below.

Next thing you know, he'll be stamping his feet, then throw himself on the floor kicking and screaming for "Mommy."

Heres my major beef, k: I say, hell I'll pay 250 for this AGP card. I put in my max bid price 10-5 mins before auction close. I refresh the auction every minute or so and it looks A-OK. Then every 10 secs in the last minute. I'm winning, I'm winning, I'm winning, at $220 this whole time. Then I refresh and the auction has 5 secs left and somebody has used a program to insert his bid. He wins the card for $252.50. Logically there is no reason for me to have increased my max bid since I was winning at $220, $30 dollars less than my max. Most likely I would have been willing to pay up to $255-260, but why should I increase my max bid? Quintiscentially, sniping removes your ability to respond to a higher bid on an item you might very well pay more for. Now just coming along and telling me I should have put my max bid at $260 is a very simple minded argument. Now, if the person's sniper had the max bid set for like $280, then I can see them rightfully winning, otherwise it just makes things unfair by not allowing other bidders to respond to the new price.

You should increase your max bid b/c if you are willing to increase your max bid, then IT ISN'T YOUR MAXIMUM BID, NOW, IS IT? The only people snipers screw are people who bid lower than what they are willing to pay.Logically there is no reason for me to have increased my max bid since I was winning at $220, $30 dollars less than my max. How? You could have placed your REAL maximum bid the first time around, and then you put the smack-down on all those would be snipers who now see "SNIPE FAILED-MAXIMUM BID TOO LOW."Quintiscentially, sniping removes your ability to respond to a higher bid on an item you might very well pay more for.
Sometimes the CORRECT argument is the SIMPLEST one. You seem to think Ebay is more magical and complicated than it is. SEE MY SIG.Now just coming along and telling me I should have put my max bid at $260 is a very simple minded argument.

No. Sniping programs allow the lazy people who are not willing to sit there and wait to place their bid very close to the auction end to do so and win.

Let me get this straight.
You set your max bid to $250.
If I set my max bid to $260, then I cheated you, but if set my max bid to $280, I "rightfully" won?
Are you listening to yourself?
EITHER WAY I WIN AT $252.50.
You should have to take a proficiency test on basic Ebay concepts before they allow you to participate...
