*sigh* I have quite the bald spot already at 22

OP, seriously, you do NOT necessarily have to go bald. Try 5% generic minoxidil (Target) 2x a day, and Nioxin shampoo ... PM me for more info if you like as well...you likely have more control over this than you think

I think maybe the stress of school and such may have made me stress enough to loose my hair. Or maybe I would have been screwed anyway... I dunno. I pretty sure hairloss is still a lost cause, but is there a vitamin deficiency or something that could worsen it that I could help or something? I wear a ball cap most days to just cover it up as I don't think I can pull off the baldy white guy look. Ah well... life goes on

Propecia works. As does Rogaine, and they work even better when combined. Synergy FTW.

They don't work for everyone, but they're certainly worth a try.

Also propecia and rogaine work by completely different mechanisms - there's no interaction between them. Propecia blocks the enzyme that converts testosterone into DHT, which is believed to be responsible for the atrophy of hair follicles. The mechanism by which rogaine causes hair to grow is unknown - it was discovered as an accidental side effect when the base ingredient, minoxidil, was being used to treat hypertension.

Propecia's advantages with hair-growth were discovered by accident as well. Finasteride is used to treat prostate cancer.

My hairline is receding rapidly, and I'm approaching the point of no return at 23. Luckily, the back and OP's area is thick as a gorilla's back.

Bic-it, baby! I have a round head with wide cheekbones, so bic'ing will not work that well. Oh, and I have a birthmark-baldspot on the back of my head, so that'll suck.

Embrace it. Comb overs are for douches, and pills aren't good for you. Either shave your head, or let your hair do it's thing.

Yes, do it - do it before it's too late!

Pills are bad for you and have side effects, including limp dick. Rogaine kinda works but keeps the short/fuzzy "faux" hair, not the long, luxurious hair that you really want. I was on it for a year and eventually got tired of the shit dripping into my eyes. It kept the hair that i had, kinda... but try it if you'd like, but it's not going to regrow your hairline..

Shave.. SHAVE.

One day there will be a cure, until then just shave your head and settle into the new bad ass that you will become.

I didn't start shaving until I was 26. Within 2 years I was married, had a great job, bought a house, and am so much happier. It's not about the hair, it's about taking a stand and taking action - dealing with the shit head on and not letting your hair bring you down!

I sound like a douchebag, i just drank some red bull.. Douchebag fuel.. Sorry 🙂

It'll do wonders for your confidence, and that's worth something

If your hair starts to bald, just shave it. If you feel you can't pull off the look, go get buff. Buff + bald always looks good.

I still have my hair...lucky i suppose

Agree with this dude 100%!

As long as you are trying to use hair growth products you will be constantly agonizing over how long it will last, if people can notice its thinner, etc, etc. You're in denial, and it will make you miserable.

Accept that you are bald and shave it. And be proud of it. You will feel better about yourself.

I started going bald in college as well. So did my brother. It's genetics.

I was never sad about it, in fact once I started shaving my head I loved how clean it feels.

Plus, all the coolest characters are bald. Captain Picard, Jason Statham, etc.

Don't feel remorseful for your hair. Be proud of what you are, brother!

Youhad me at Picard, you lost me at Statham... Especially after that crap mideval/modern apoclyptic crap he starred in...

As for OP, that sucks, I turned 32 this year and I noticed my hairline is starting to inch back a little around the edges and is thinner overall, no bald spots yet, but it seems to be a matter of time...

I'm skinny and bald, I grow side burns and it makes me look mean. I can pull off the mean biker look easily. Only problem is the only bike I have is my daughters Huffy.

Indeed, I sound like an infomercial but TRUST ME.

I felt too nerdy to pull off the look but only felt too nerdy because my bald spots made me look and feel old. Seriously, right after a shave I was strutting around clubs like a.. tool.. A girl even said to me, at one of the arty farty clubs I go to - "look at you, Mr. Tough guy." Actually, I started partying and drinking way too much after I shaved my head, but it was a phase - realizing that I wasn't unattractive and old. I looked 40 while in my early 20s, DON'T THROW YOUR YOUTH AWAY. The biggest, transformitive moment in my life was not shaving my head, but understanding that I was in charge of my destiny and that I was the only person to blame for anything and everything. The rebellion of just saying "fuck it" and take a bic to my scalp was part of that.. Plugs, pills, $80 shampoos,.. FUCK IT ALL.. Shave it.. You will look good because you'll feel good - you took control of the situation.

I'm still a nerd and still feel like a nerd, but everyone says that they can't imagine me without my shaved head - it's "me," vs. that old dude who was staring back at me in the bathroom mirror, while I tried every stupid, expensive product out there to save what was left of my dignity. ...

just shaved my head myself, gonna take some getting use to... I definitely look better with full hair, but I also look like a 40 year old with my bald spot. Now I look my age.

You're just used to looking at hair. I'm sure you look just as good, if not better bald.

I scared to shave off my hair. I'm pretty sure my face looks better with my beard. I don't know if I'd be able to pull off shaved head + beard 😛

Thoughts?

Give it a try. It'll always grow back if you don't like it. I've had long hair since highschool(I'm now 40), and if I were to cut my hair short, I'd definitely shave my head first. It would be worth it for the shock value to people that know me, and I've always been kind of envious of people with shaved heads. I think it's a good look, and very easy to take care of. The only downside is you have to keep up with it to keep it smooth.

Edit:
I saw this guy in DC when he had this beard, but his head was bald. I thought it was a pretty good look, but bagpipes make everyone look better :^D
