Now that my company has changed the vacation and sick days to ETO, we have to miss 3 or more days to pull from the Sick Time Pool and also get a form signed off by a doctor, since it's such a PITA now, more and more people come in when they're sick since any days they miss that don't exceed 3 or more, counts against usable vacation time.

I love how everyone on ATOT is always screaming about what pussies kids are today and how they all have an "entitlement" attitude and what-not. But just let someone sneeze at work or not wash their hands after taking a piss and you'll pop onto ATOT crying like a bitch.

Some are intelligent enough to stay home when they are sick, but others decide that they need to work and are at work, coughing up their lungs and spreading germs in a closed air environment.

PSA: IF YOU ARE SICK, STAY THE FUCK HOME.

it's not always that easy.

And when my company doesn't force me to earn it before I can use it. I only earn .417 days of sick time per month. When my son got sick and I had to stay home with him for 3 days *poof* I had gone over my sick time allotted in my 4 months there.

What a crock of shit.

Yeah, not everybody really has the option. If you have a mellow office job, then usually you can STFH. Otherwise you can be pressured into working - I've been involved in both scenarios.

You work as HR in a lean manufacturing facility for a few days and you'll realize why it's necessary.

My old company had a policy that if you missed more than one day you needed a doctor's note OR you needed to come in and see the on-site nurse (for free, of course.)

I consider that fair game. Anything bad enough to keep me from driving there and not wanting to stay there WOULD make me go to the doctor.

Our new boss just canceled any sick, personal or vacation time.
No work, no pay.
Sorry, I'll be coming to work, leaking, hacking, whatever.

One time when I was in school some girl came to class with Chicken Pox. I had already had pox but seriously, you came to school with chicken pox? So when she did her english presentation and passed out comment cards I wrote "the next time you have a viral infection please do us all a favor and stay home". My teacher had a fit, and now looking back I regret writing that.

It hurts your company more to go when you're sick.

if i was the boss, i'd fire anyone who come into work coughing up the place.
seriously, work from home! if you can't, just take the damn day off! you risk infecting half the company with your flu. one person out today is better off than half the team out sick a few days or a week later.

you're not a dedicated employee by coming in. it means you're a selfish arrogant suck-up

My SO's boss told everyone that if anyone calls in at all, they will take away their incentive, which is a type of commission. He makes 7.50 an hour. But with his sales incentive, he makes 12. He calls in once, at any time for any reason, they will take away his incentive, so all his sales and hard work were for nothing except to line the store owners pockets.
We think he has strep throat, but he does not want to lose everything he has worked for so he keeps going in.

I'm hourly and if I don't work, I can't do overtime hours. It makes a huge difference. Unless I'm bed-ridden, I'm going in, with a mask maybe.

I doubt that is legal.

Wouldn't that be personal time? I've never had allocated "sick days" period.

Who knows. I am sure they really care.
