That about sums up my thought too. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

So stay home and let your wife & kids get sick so it will make them stronger.

No need for me to look, I don't mind people coming in sick. ;)

It's all gravy if it doesn't bother you, but do you come into work sick knowing that your co-workers may have issues with it? I mean, they really aren't asking for much you know. They are just concerned about their health.

The whole "don't come in to work if you are sick because you will get me sick!!" argument is stupid. By the time you are showing symptoms, it's already too late, you have already been contagious...if your illness is even contagious to begin with.

That doesn't mean you should continue to go to work with the symptoms and being contagious. It's bad enough that we don't realize we are contagious a couple days before hand in some cases. That's just tossing fuel into the fire.

I've skipped past most of the "don't get me sick" / "I'm not" banter.

I just want to say that I think it's sorta neat that his company has a doctor that comes in once a week that sees you for free.

Most times when people come in sick it is because the corporate culture makes them dread having to make that call to the boss, not because they want to share their germs.

Yes, it is inconsiderate to your coworkers, but if you work in a place that won't allow a reasonable amount of paid sicktime, or has the kind of culture where it is easier to come into work sick than to make the phone call like above, the inconsideration is on the part of the company/boss. Companies should not treat their workers like machines, but like people. There are a LOT of companies who treat their employees like that.

I can't argue with that. I just refuse to personally stand for it. It's very sad that companies do this. :(
