Riiight...

No matter how much you may think you aren't spreading germs, in reality, you are.

Sudafed relieves the symptoms. It does not prevent you from being contagious. I don't know what to tell you man. You are talking about going to work while being contagious. It's inconsiderate. You can do things to reduce the chance of passing it while as work but not by that much. Not to mention that stressing your body at work while being sick means you will be sick longer and contagious longer which is not good for your you or your employer. Put your health first, my health second, and you job last.

You can't be serious can you?

Re-read your own description of your sickness and then re-read this post you just made.

It's only logical for people to come to the conclusion that you are spreading germs.

That about sums up my thought too. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

Your kid could probably use getting sick. Build up his immune system.

ditto, but I'm not in close proximity to many people so my cooties play by themselves

I too am hanging out in my own little cube, many feet away from anyone else.

yes and i hope you plan on sitting in your cubicle all day, and not touching any door handles in the entire office, or the printer, or going anywhere near the kitchen, or cafeteria.

i commend you for the extraordinary efforts you will go through to ensure you aren't spreading your disease.

That happens enough to all kids on a regular basis without having to add this scenario into the mix. That is not a good argument. Have kids first before commenting like that.

I'll never understand why people put their jobs above their own health. It makes even less sense why they don't respect those that do by going into work sick.

Not if their parents are germophobe freaks.

because 90% of jobs dont give nearly enough sick days, so its basicially either go to work sick or become unenployed

Trust me. It's not that simple. Try sending a kid to a day care regularly while you are at work. You can't stop parents from sending their kids to school sick and many do sadly. It spreads like wildfire.

Yes, I realize that and it is sad. I had a few of those jobs but refused to comply. I will choose my own priorities. Many jobs are very considerate when it comes to that though. It's just a matter of being patient and finding one. The problem I see more often than not is people just deal with the fact that their boss does not allow them to do what they need to do to be healthy. They are either lazy, don't care, or don't have the balls to look for a better job.

It's good for them.

To a point. I realize it strengthens the immune system but the line is drawn somewhere too. Getting sick from the day cares is more than enough. I don't need to be contributing to it myself.

I hope that while your kid is young, if he has a friend who gets chicken pox, you have him spend bunches of time over there and get it too. Wouldn't want him to have that as an adult.

Yes, I don't want my asthmatic daughter getting a respiratory illness because I'm a germophobe freak.

Anyone who comes in with the symptoms described in the OP's post is an inconsiderate selfish ass. And if she has an attack because of that illness, then we definitely have a big problem

Yup and he has it. Please keep in mind that I am more understanding if people come to work sick but really are not that sick because they blew through most of it over the weekend or something. You are not contagious during the entire duration of your sickness in most cases. However, the OP clearly describes someone who is not in that scenario which is still ok to come to work by me provided they have been on antibiotics long enough to not be contagious. I don't recommend it and do not do that myself but I don't mind that others choose to do it either because at that point it is not effecting me.

Also, most people do not get that sick very often and it only takes one sick day to get those antibiotics and be on them long enough. Most companies give enough sick time to handle that and if yours does not then I would recommend looking elsewhere. It's just not worth it.

Mine has Excema which flares up a lot whenever he is sick. It is extremely itchy and he has a lot of trouble sleeping when that happens. :(

The Excema is not contributing to making his immune system any stronger.

I'd imagine the opposite is true, most companies no long provide adequate sick time, let alone time that can be taken without being being frowned upon.

You need to look after you first.

Also, this greatly depends on the industry you are in. Many are more forgiving than others. All of them have employers which are very patient though. You just need to find one. That's what I did. It was very much worth the hassle.

No need for me to look, I don't mind people coming in sick. ;)
