Maybe someone with more knowlege than me can jump in here...

Generally yes. Now granted, an Epox 8RDA+ doesn't have Soundstorm - no digital outputs. But it does have nVidia's Audio Processing Unit, courtesy of the MCP-T southbridge. The AN35N lacks this APU - just the MCP.

When I double click on sstray.exe It's as if a dialog box flashes on the screen for a millisec and nothing happens. I downloaded the Shuttle chipset driver and unzipped and went throught the process again and same result. I installed the Shuttle an35n driver set and still the same result. When I run a 5.1 test I get sound " front-left rear left center etc" just fine. However now there is low static on all 6 speakers, center and rear do not work during games and now powerdvd locks during video playback seems to play preview movie on one I tried fine - still sound only on front two speakers and bass and usually locks after a min or two. I didn't do this before. I want to try to uninstall the drivers, but I don't know if you uninstall everything under sounds etc in control panel and only selected items. I never had to uninstall like this before, can anyone tell me specifically what would be needed to be uninstalled?

This all seems so crazy simple I don't get it. I've built a dozen different computers and never had this problem. I've already warned my son I'm heading to his computer next to take back my old santa cruz and disable this onboard audio...........

Hi

I have a shuttle an50r and the z-640's as well.

not exactly the same board...

what i had to do to get the 5.1's to work was download soundman off of the realtek webpage and use that to use 5.1's.

my board uses the realtek al650 chip but i'm not quite sure about the an35n

just my $.02

Well, you should know that the Santa Cruz just does not appear to work properly under Windows XP. I was having a problem with a system, and it turned out to be the sound card.

What I meant to say was physically go to my son's room, physically remove my old santa cruz from his computer, disable the onboard sound on my an35n, install the santa cruz with the associated software in my an35n system and be in the happy spot I was in before when my biostar m7vit still worked with the santa cruz. ;)

In reality, the m7vit stopped posting which is why I bought the An35n, I figured I didn't need a sound card now and gave the better santa cruz to my son, ( In reality I will just get another sound card). I'm sorry guys but I give up trying to get the onboard audio to work and beyond 2.1 with simulated center (matrix). I won't return because it's not worth that much to get another santa cruz or such.

This is the first time I have used the forums for help and have to thank everyone for the help and information, everyone has been great. Seeya....Melectricus:beer:
