I couldnt care less whether a car is fast, as long as it drives well, doesnt breakdown and is good on gas I'm happy :)

I have a semi-fast car (96 Toyota Supra Turbo drilled) but only have a few stories that mostly involve evading cops. I'm at the stage now that I really love my SUV more. Sad, isn't it?

uh... ricers could be anything. it's not limited to japanese import stuff.

as long as it has the aerodynamic racing stickers, ugly fog lamps, and messed up brake lights and spoilers the size of a 747, you've got a ricer!

btw, I'm more into bikes. good on mileage and fast as a donkey (on twin rockets :))!!!

wouldn't mind a ferrari though. that's just stylish!

GaryTcs - Tuffguy, an eclipse is a ricer. You are aware, right?

how do you figure? my car is NOT flashy and i can beat mustangs, camaros and pretty much anything else. i even have it underbadged to a GS instead of a v6 GT. when i drop a turbo i'll be able to compete with cobras, vettes, etc. unless you're using the racist connotation of the word.

God bless the losers that take the word "ricer" out of context all the time :disgust:

genocide - are you referring to me? if so, what did you perceive his comment as? especially when my car *looks* stocks and there nothing ricey about it - no decals, it's not slammed, no super-loud buzzy exhaust, etc.

Japanesse sports care are not ricers by definition. Christ in heaven! A rice car is something that looks fast, but isn't! Like for instance my mother's 00 imprezza sport wagon with a slushbox. Looks fast, but is very very slow.

hmm.. like many others, I like fast cars, but I can't stand street races, I'm an asian myself and I just hate this whole "ricer" thing.

My friend in the other hand, have a 98 Prelude completed with 19" rims, cold air intake, headers, exhaust, lowered springs and a very very BIG TURBOCHARGER. His car can burn cameros and mustangs easy...

As for me, I used to own a crappy looking 89 Merkur XR4Ti, it have a turbo 4 cyl and rear wheel drive, so believe me, those intergras and civics don't even come close when my turbo kicks in! =)

But if I have to choose between super fast car v.s super good handling.. I'll go w/ supergood handling.. I'll take an Audi A4 Quattro over any Camero Z28 any days.. Caus drag racing doesn't require skills, but mountain twisting does =)

I like to see a mustangs or an Intergra try to keep up w/ an Audi Quattro or a New M3 (rumors to have God-like handling) in the mountains. =) Oh ya... watch out for that cliff...

No hills in georgia, just a lot of flat land :) Guess thats why the abundance of muscle cars..

You have to admit, drag racing or just racing in straightaways is fun. Who cares if you win or lose, theres always gonna be someone with something better than yours.

Those "riced" out looking cars, are pretty funny. What kind of chicks would want to be seen in one of those?? None that i know.

I know plenty - and they're not the kind of women that you'd afraid to be seen with :)

does my 35th anniversary v6 stang count?

it holds its own pretty good... It's mostly stock but with a sweet stereo and Borla Dual Exhaust and K&N intake.

the little 5-speed moves along pretty good...

how would this hold up to a v6 Firebird?

I love having a fast car just to show up those d1cks who "race" Civics what real cars can do. Other than that I keep fairly close to the limits.

"Mountain twisting"... Yeah, that happens a lot! :p

I'm about done going over 80 or 90MPH on straight or curves. This one cost me my license twice for points. Yeah, I'm done with it. Rather be comfortable these days.

I'd agree with the drag enthusiasts here. "Twisties" are fun, and great around a parking lot with pylons, but in terms of safety there is a major difference between gunning it at some lights going straight and racing with some stranger around twists and turns, past drive ways, etc. etc.

I floor my car all the time, and would even if it was very fast, but I quit skidding around corners with any sort of frequency back when I was a kid; I've just realized its far too dangerous to be done in public streets.

For most people in most cases the worst thats going to happen if you race somebody at the lights is a ticket (sure somebody can come out from nowhere but I'm talking generally!), the worst thats going to happen squeeling around corners is screwing up and becoming one with a tree.

Tuffguy,
I wasn't bashing your Eclipse.(Now I will, though.) It's not really that fast,it's front wheel drive, it's foriegn, and labeled a sports car.(and don't they have a huge wing, brake scoops, etc?) 200hp at 5500rpm's (200lbs-ft @ 4000rpm)does not make it a really fast car. Actually, it has less hp and torque than a Buick Regal GS(the Buick has 40 more hp, and 75lbs-ft more torque). 0-60 times of 7.0 secs makes it 0.2 secs slower than the Regal.(and 1.7 secs slower than the z-28's you've been beating.) At best, you can expect a 50% boost in hp from a turbo, giving you 300hp. I'm assuming you don't want to get crazy with boost. This puts you around the same hp as a Camaro. Since they weigh around the same (the Camaro is about 180lbs heavier),you'll be seeing similar performance from yours as a stock Camaro LS-1. You can't really expect to compete with Vettes and Vipers with an Eclipse, unless the drivers are weak. In essence, my grandpa could turn in his Regal GS for an Eclipse, if he wanted to slow down a little. Oh, and he'd have to shift manually.

I'm linking so as you don't call me a liar. Eclipse specs, Regal specs, and 0-60 times.

By the way, here in Michigan, the definition of "ricer" may be a little broader than in other parts of the country. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I hereby apologize.

gotta step in here.. that was a good smackdown of crappy slow rice. :) but the Camaro is "rated" at 305hp, but GM underrates their engines for insurance purposes.. its been documented plenty of times that the Z28 Camaro is well over 325-330hp off the showroom floor
