Should'nt lifer status be awarded based on length of time (instead of soley on post count)

Well, you've got my vote. Can we have quests also?

LOL, being a lifer doesn't mean shit

says the girl with the cool lifer status

seriously, no perks, and nothing to work towards after that. it's the last title you can obtain.

what about elite?
that's not automatic. in fact, i would have better luck winning the lottery than obtaining that one. :p

welll theres at least one way you could be guaranteed elite... :p

it denotes involvement w/ the forums as well. some guy that posted once back in 2000 sint much of a lifer

that makes sense, but some of us like to lurk and read and make the occasional remark as opposed to hundreds or thousands of posts every month.

so what status should lurkeres get??? possibly a "lurker" status??

I'd gladly take a lurker title. Then make the lifer forum viewable only for us. :)

I think we should just use a rep system.

We used to have a rating system but it was "abused". I can still see my rating and vote count on my profile but haven't seen where you can vote in years.

lol, I remember that.

thread title: "you guys all suck, I don't care if you vote me a 1"

atot: "ok" <votes OP a 1>

I hold more respect for non-lifers. Most lifers who have been here for 1-2 years are not exactly novelist and usually offer the 2 word message. "Suck it, :), wtf, quote this, BS, repost, fawk that, and I suck a big one".

It should be a minimum # of Post/Day over a minimum length of time.

i.e. 2 PPD over 5 years or something like that.

there needs to be a no-lifer status so we can give it to people like casiotech and the like.

haha yep.

i agree we need a rep system - but along the lines of slickdeals. so people 'rep' someone and you can't 'de-rep' someone. that way the people who suck will always be at the bottom, and the people who are good will float to the top.

A quest is in the works as soon as I feel like I'm settled into my new place.

maybe if lifer status had any value (or any other title meant anything for that matter), it would be worth discussing

It needs to be changed. Just because someone posts in every OT thread five times a day shouldn't make them a lifer. Ratings systems are bound to be abused. Only easy thing I can think of is for there to be a combination of post count and time registered. Or you could really piss everyone off and not count posts in OT. Another computer forum I am on does that, on posts in the actual tech side of it count towards you post count. OT, classifieds, hot deals, etc don't count towards your post count.

Bollocks. The cake is a lie
Screen shots have been posted before.

lol... anyone can modify the source code of the Anandtech website to make it look like anything you want...

...or just photoshop it...

sez the loser who'll NEVER be allowed into the Lifer Forum...even with 30,000 posts.

Yup, we took a vote on the lifer forum. It was 1,870 to 1. I won't share who that one was.

That one must be lynched.

Who cares, the status under your name is completely irrelevant.

No matter where you go people always want the 'status' that goes with high post counts.

Why people want to advertise their lack of a social life is beyond me! :p
