What do you mean take a side? Either you are for it, undecided, or against it. Yes undecided can be a side you can stand on if you have no vested interest in this. In otherwords you are a man but can't bear the thought of a woman being brtually shot or injured, or a woman who wants to fight along side her male comrades for her country, or a male that feels unfairly discriminated against becuase you are the only one placing your life on the line not your counter part female army members. It's all subjective and relative to how you feel about it.

The reason I was told was not because of incompetencies of women, but of men. If a man saw a woman being tortured, etc., he might be more inclined to divulge information than if he saw a man being tortured.

Shrug.

Some girl trying to enlist said she didn't have the right tools to be a ranger. The recruiter said "hey, you said it, not me."

No. They are physically weaker and that could hinder the ability of the soldiers as a whole. An arguement could also be made that they are also weaker mentally as far as war/fighting goes, although there are some women that could take it I think more times than not they would not be as efficient as the men and thus bring their combat ability down.

I think there are some women who could handle combat just as well as the men they are fighting with, but if we let just any women into combat positions we we'll end up with a less effective military.

I think woman should never be drafted, but if they want to serve in combat by choice, then fine.

Yes. The only reasons they're not are political and cultural tag-alongs from last century.

Read about the Ahosi if you want to learn about badass women.

i heard about that and it didnt work out men were running in front of women so the women would not be shot

Yes, as long as they can perform the job. I know for sure that the Army required that men fill some positions. Personally, if/when I go into combat, I would prefer that it be all men as I probably would be inclined to do something stupid for a woman, but oh well, I don't make the decisions.

The Russians trained women to be snipers, because it is widely thought that women make better snipers, being more patient and waiting for the perfect head shot... :D

Maybe you'll be able to write your essay once you different the singular form from the plural form.

I cannot stand it when guys say "women", when they mean to say "woman"; and "woman" when they mean to say "women". It escapes why I see this frequently on the forums.

P.S. Sorry, but no one's going to write your essay for you. The modem should be enough motivation for you to think hard and read as much materials as required.

In the words of Chris Rock: "If they want to fight, let them fight." It was in reference to gays in the military, but I think it applies here too.

P.S. Women, not woman. Not being a prick, just make sure it isn't fvcked up on your paper.

I have nothing against women in combat, but they should be held to the same standards that men are. Even in the phsyical department. If you can't make you run times, or enough pushups, etc, then you should be on the list to get out of the service. Especially if you're in the USAF, which is beyond its congressional limits. :(

You're going the wrong direction, W00t! You don't learn from people telling you what side to take. You have to make the decision yourself. You could find what you want for this one essay (e.g., "people telling you what side to take"), but you'll have much trouble in the future with the tons of essays you'll be writing in school.

Try this, we'll give you our general opinions. You make much of what you want from it. However, try doing a little research. There are so many well written articles on this subject. An interesting country to consider as (well, close to) a model of women in combat would be Israel. Go do some research. It doesn't even take as much effort as it used to require before the internet.

if they want to, let them. I think you have to treat them differently because they ARE different. If a man can do 200 pushups but a woman can't do more than 150, that's no reason to kick them out.
