Thinking about a new PSU, my rig will on occasion give a BSOD on boot, maybe once a week, I've gotten 10 years out of an Antec earthwatts 450 so I'd say I got my $$'s worth!.

Eventually components will go bad, even on the best PSU. I can't say for sure that your BSODs are being caused by the PSU. I can say that most high-quality PSUs should be retired after 7-10 years of service as a precaution against total failure.

What's your budget range? If you've read this entire thread, you've probably already seen some good recommendations for Gold PSUs.

Yea, 10 yrs from any PSU is living on borrowed time LOL, i was ogling the Antec gold 650 modular for $50 after rebate at Newegg, not surprisingly, they are OOS at the current time. Interestingly, if I pop into BIOS before boot it never BSOD's so I'm taking this as electrolytic cap(s) are losing value and cannot stabilize voltages in time for a SSD boot up. Just a theory, watch me buy a new PSU and the issue remains, that's OK, I've been itching to build a new rig anyway.

If the system is anywhere near as old as that PSU, then you are probably overdue for an upgrade. Fortunately, you will have a lot of options that can easily and cheaply replace a system from 2009.

I've not read any reviews of that particular Antec unit; however, as stated earlier in this thread, it's hard for the unit to be bad if it really is Gold-rated.

Yea, it's old, started life as a C2D E8500 then I switched to an E5450@3.9Ghz a few years ago and added a 7770 card and SSD. Since I rarely game or render it's actually still fast enough. i might be asking for trouble though to keep running it.
