Don't see why not.

Yup, hell you can get body mods to look like Gollum and go around talking about fishes all day, just don't tell me what to believe in.

I don't see how a plaque can tell you anything. I don't see how a plaque will affect your judgement in any way, shape, or form.

I'm not a Christian, but I think people that get bent out of shape about this BS are idiots. We have innocent soldiers dying in our attempt to take over the middle east, and we are sitting here crying like little pissants over a plaque in the middle of BFE erected by some back woods hick.

We have children that eat less than most pets out there on the streets. There are children in schools that cannot read. There are several terrorist organizations gunning for us, and all we can do is antagonize them. Jessica Alba is starring in a movie about a ballet student teaching hip-hop dancing to ghetto kids. A woman is abused by her partner roughly every 18 seconds, a man every 15 seconds. The country spends billions of dollars on a drug war that does absolutely no good. The internet is the new tv, babysitting our children so daddy can get another BJ at 3pm when he wakes up.

And some people are worried that some mean old plaque is going to force them into believing in a god.

The commandments should stay; the judge should go.
The statements he makes are wrong.
There is, however, nothing wrong with the ten commandments being there, in a government building.

the 10 commandents have nothing to do with the law or how justice should be served, they have no place in a government facility

They are decoration and something to view and ponder. Regardless of how much religion should be involved in our government (as close to none as possible, which is why I hate this judge), our government came directly from those principles, be it good or ill.
For the record, I am not a Christian nor Jew.
...why not also remove In God we trust, prayer in government, etc.?
Why is it so important to remove a simple piece of stone?
If you don't want religion in our government, you're starting at the wrong place.

Ham? Bah! Prime rib!

Frankly I don't care what they do with an insignificant plaque in some courthouse down in bumfvck Alabama. The only thing that bothers me is when people of faith say things like "if you don't believe in what I believe in then you don't belong in this country." One of my mom's dumbass friends is like that, can't stand her. Anyway, leave the plaque up and take care of some of the more important things in the country.

Amen, back at ya.

i agree that its a pretty pointless debate to be in considering the state of the world (yet here we are). i think they should be taken down if only becuase the dude made the decision to put them up himself, it had nothing to do with state or federal decisions(from what ive heard). that would be a much more complicated case in my mind.

I assume that everyone is aware of the fact that the Ten Commandments are displayed behind the bench in the US Supreme Court building.
Directly above the Bench are two central figures, depicting Majesty of the Law and Power of Government. Between them is a tableau of the Ten Commandments. The group at the far left represents Safeguard of the Rights of the People, and Genii of Wisdom and Statecraft. At the far right is the Defense of Human Rights.

The poll on the MSNBC article gave the opposite results - about 60% said to leave it up, 40% said take it down. It's nice to see that the AT population is a little more reasonable...for the most part.

Well...that's your opinion.

I'm never offended by sign of religions. So a no vote for me. I do wish we can remove from the gene pool those that forced their religions on other and act like theirs is the supreme super doper way, either believe in it or perish.

If this judge thought it was such a good idea, why did he move it in in the middle of the night. Sounds like he knew that it wasn't right and that he had to sneak it in. Since the state didn't pay for the monument, it must be the judge's personal property. The judge should just be told to remove his personal property from state land. I don't care if it is a monument or his personal car, it doesn't belong in a government bulding. It seems very simple to me.

It really is. Yet, almost 30% here cannot grasp the concept of separation of church and state, or they refuse to.

Take it down . . . our laws are no more related to the 10 Commandments than they are to the Hammurabic Code . . .

Or are we still needed to be reminded to "keep the Sabbath sacred"?

😛

The 10 commandments are Jewish - NOT Christian, anyway.
