Do I think the bonus recipients earned those bonuses, hell no!

However they should not be blamed for getting them; It was not their fault it was the Democrats legislative gross negligence that caused this problem if anyone should be getting crucified and death threats it is them not the bonus recipients.

my friend's wife is getting a $400 bonus from AIG... I really fail to see what publicizing rank and file employee addresses is meant to accomplish.

as it is, they were instructed today not to wear any clothing with AIG on it and to leave the office in pairs/groups.

And should we also not publish the name of the guy that robbed the local gas station because he only got 50 dollars?

you're really comparing rank and file workers who have nothing to do with AIG's fiscal issues with robbing a gas station?

No way would I support them publishing a list of their names / addresses. I dislike the idea of them getting bonuses as much as the next guy, but this will just make them a target for people seeking vengeance. I do not wish any physical harm to come to any of them, which would be a definite possibility if such a list were to be published.

I'm not sure what publishing anyone's name would accomplish, except make them fear for their life.

I am a strong proponent of transparency and Sunshine laws. :sun:

All taxpayers should have the information to know where our money is going.

Sad to see the country reduced to this kind of mentality.

The REAL blame here lies with the idiots in government that 1) allowed this mess to happen, 2) make it worse by repeatedly bailing AIG out without setting proper terms and conditions 3) are now trying to cover their political backsides by pretending to be outraged when they knew damn well that these bonuses were agreed on when they first bailed out the company.

Put the blame for this one where it really lies: the stupid politicians.

The ironic thing about your statement is that is essentially happening to these people. "Give the money back, and we won't publish your names (maybe)." Given the current climate of the country, this is definitely a threat of possible violence. It's extortion.

Some top employees of American International Group Inc.'s disgraced Financial Products group have agreed to return hefty retention bonuses under mounting public outrage over $165 million in payouts to a unit that brought the insurer to its knees.

Among them was Douglas Poling, who received the richest payment of more than $6.4 million, according to a person familiar with the matter. Mr. Poling, the 48-year-old son of a former chief executive of Ford Motor Co., is an executive vice president with responsibility for energy and infrastructure investments.

Among executives who served under Mr. Cassano and retain high-profile roles at the financial-products company are Mr. Poling, Mr. Cassano's former top deputy, as well as James Haas and Jon Liebergall, former employees say.

Like Mr. Poling, they didn't work in the credit-derivatives unit.

Nice to see he gave them the money back, but if he was this guy's top deputy, doesn't that mean he's part of the problem?

he Wall Street Journal was the first to identify him as Mr. Poling. The next top six bonus recipients were handed more than $4 million each, another 15 individuals received $2 million or more, and 51 additional employees received $1 million or more.

Of those people collecting more than $1 million, eleven have already left the company, Mr. Cuomo's office said.

what kind of retention bonus allows employees to quit?

If you read the 1st page of this thread, you'll know if he part of the problem or not.

EDIT: Your 2nd question will also be answered if you watch the video.

One that was awarded based on your presence through Dec 2008 but not paid out until March 2009 during a quarterly reconciliation.

Let's make the names public of the dumb-asses that gave it to them.

imho this whole AIG bonus thing is stupid.

there are trillions of dollars at stake here in this economy and people are going apeshit over such a tiny thing.

If they (AIG) are swindling taxpayers out of money...I say good for them. We are the idiots that keep giving them money. Who is really the jackass in this picture?

It's not stupid. If you reward people who are responsible for wasting those trillions of dollars, you encourage this to happen again. These people should be in jail, not getting bonuses.

Not holding my breath. But two wrongs don't make a right.
