They should just create Nvidia and AMD sub forums, not that that'll ever happen.
The idea of censoring forums (which by definition are a meeting to discuss topics of public concern) strikes me as inherently backward and counter-productive. A discussion not going the way you or anyone else intended it to go is what freedom is and the very notion that you or someone else should dictate the terms fills me with dread. Take MS for example, I've been in the graphic card reviewing/ buying business for 15 years and have owned one or more top cards from each camp every generation in that time. I am brand agnostic BUT in my experience whenever Nvidia has lost the single GPU performance crown and or the price/performance lead (which has been often) a slick marketing machine has swung into action to denigrate or shed doubt on results. For example it was power draw fairly recently and now it's microstutter (the results of testing MS which reflect badly on Nvidia have been consistently dismissed/disputed by some people on this forum). I believe everyone should have to state what they're running in their sig so we have an idea of how partisan or not they are or how adept at dishonesty they are. The essence of PR and propaganda is to keep saying something regardless of whether it's true or not. Being cynical about other's statements which aren't explicity supported by truly independent empirical evidence is a prerequisite for ascertaining truth or a semblance of it. That's why I voted no.
Not in other words or my words, those are your words. I prefer not to have to suffer that but it's a regular feature of these forums and it's not something I nor most forum members indulge in. That said the essence of debate is to allow idiots to talk crap. I despise what you say but I defend to the death your right to say it.So in other words you're ok with someone coming here to ask about an issue then someone says "You should have not bought that garbage card from company X. They suck, drivers suck blah blah"?
I'm not a fanboi of either but prefer AMD due to memories of Nvidia's texture cheat with their 4600TI a long time ago. Also the fact they screwed 3dfx left a bad taste BUT I've owned and been happy with plenty of Nvidia cards, the last being a 8800GTX which is still in my ex gf's rig. I buy bang for buck and would always buy whichever brand offered the best performance for my money, if they offer the same performance at the same price I'd buy AMD as they need to be kept in the game if I want to be able to afford GPU's in future (as Nvidia will screw us all if they are the sole player).
Don't take advice on this from Nvidia shills/fanboys get it from someone who has Crysis and 7970 crossfire. I'd get another 7970 if I were you and if it really doesn't work well (which I'm pretty sure it will) then return it to the shop/etailer.Please do feed back on your experience !
Advice to all readers: Learn to speed-read, and just skim over the posts that do not have what you are looking for!
(I know that it's not as easy as it sounds, hehe.. )
Well, there will always be teenagers.. even on HardForum where the word "fanboy" is banned, there's still a lot of "filtering" to go through to find any useful info.
And all that will do is create two sub-forums of fanboi bickering, with AMD acolytes invading the Nvidia zealot turf and bickering, and vice versa. Wouldn't solve a darned thing.
Its kind of funny how this is a complaint ONLY when Nvidia threads get crapped.
I think many of the people here completely overreact when an opinion that is different than theirs is expressed. Everyone is guilty of that.
+1boo for censorship. I wish I could tell people off without fear of getting the boot. If somebody is a douche, they should be able to hear about it.
****How about LESS moderation****
I wasn't going to reply to my own poll, but this is amusing. You're awfully quick to proclaim being "brand agnostic" when it suits you, but....
This sure doesn't seem "agnostic". It looks like a pretty heavy focus on the company vs the technology.
You're also quick to try to discredit anyone who has anything but the utmost praise for AMD as "Nvidia shills/fanboys"
You're accusing others of being part of a "slick marketing machine", but look to me to be just as bad as what you're accusing others of.
With stronger moderating, if I was a mod I would delete this as off topic. Just saying.![]()
Personally I am pretty much against fanboy behavior but lets face it some of the fanboy fights are fun to read.
BTW I have never run a Nvidia GPU, but that is just because I like to do bitcoin mining> once gpu mining no longer works for bit coins less then a month or two. I will most likely buy a Nvidia GPU just to check one out.
