Should they be granted VIP treatment at publicly funded places?

such as access to carpool lanes, fast access to emergency rooms, children get guaranteed access to classes at public colleges/schools etc...

I want to make sure I understand your OP. I pay 30% in taxes and Mr Romney should get more perks than he and his family are currently getting if he pays at the same rate?

Because not everyone is born into a rich family? Because the deck is stacked against them? Because sometimes people are just unlucky?
Most of the wealthiest people in the US are new money coming from modest family backgrounds. Most of them took huge gambles (e.g. taking on debt and dropping out of school) to start businesses. Who is stacking the deck if not government?
