Almost none of Nintendo's software titles, which is where the profit lies, are reaching their sales potential because they're all, of course, for the Nintendo Gamecube.
Considering Nintendo's obvious image problem, their inability to market better than Sony or Microsoft, and the common knowledge the market can only support two major players, should Nintendo choose to simply become a third party developer.
