Should making Mother's Day cards in elementary school be banned?

LordJezo

Banned
For kids in grades such as kindergarden or 1st grade.. should Mother's Day related activities be banned on grounds that they may discriminate against children with 2 male guardians or make children in divorced homes with run away moms feel bad about themselves?

I am hearing how mothers got cards that their children made in school and it disgusts me that such a celebration is still being done in today's society. Perhaps we should combine both mother's and father's day and make a parent/guardian day. This will be needed more in the coming years as more and more homosexual parents adopt children and as the divorce rate climbs. How is a teacher supposed to explain that a child has two moms or two dads?

Celebrating only one parent of a specific sex is barbaric and will definatly hurt a child's development.

I was going to post how big of a moron you were for making this very pitiful attempt at a troll/joke post, but I figure that doing so would somehow give you a boost to your warped persona so I'm only going to respond with this:

reserving a day to recognize the one person who brought u into this world and does everything for u and takes care of you is babaric? i really hope you never have any children.

oh and btw. they have a father's day too. those kids with 2 fathers can celebrate fathers day twice.

and what about those kids with lesbian mothers? they dont get to celebrate anything?!

Don't let the haters get to you!

keep posting this useless err i ment entertaining post!

You're forgetting the new rule of being politically correct - if it offends one person, it's obviously wrong and it must be banned.

Don't know why that doesn't apply to troll posters, though.

Newsflash: EVERYONE has a mother and father. If your parents are homosexuals, there's still a mother and a father for you out there somewhere! Give them the card.

What kind of close minded jargon is this? Ban mother's day. You simply cannot be serious! Have we become so ultra sensitive and petty that people actually believe this? Maybe this was meant as a joke, but even so there are probably those out there who believe it. Political correctness disgusts me. Toughen up and deal with it.

hehe, either you like to get people going, and do it very well, or you are really just a fool. i'm gonna go with the former option. 😉

and to answer the question, hells no it shouldn't. those kids have 364 days a year to drive me nuts, they are not taking my one day away to actually behave! the guilt you can lay on your kids for being naughty on mothers day is amazing. 😀

I believe that our district here is going to ban such activities, only because the new movement here is to devote %100 time to learning. Maybe not banning mothers day cards, but all "parties" have been banned here, like Valentines Day parties, halloween parties, thanksgiving parties, etc ...which I agree with. Those were just a waste of time.

Why should they ban Mother's Day/Father's Day?

How else are the card companies going to get as much money??

i think that is retarded. if they want to save time, they should do it by cutting out stupid activities from the actual curriculum (sp?) and teach things that are actually relevant and worthwhile. anyway, who pissed in your corn flakes? did you not have any fun as a kid? taking a break from school is what every kid wants, needs, and deserves after a while. i see no problem with having a party on halloween at school. no one is really paying attention anyway...well the people with books crammed up their butt are, but we all know they usually suck anyway...so whats the big deal?

After doing a google search, I found John Kerry's response to this very question:

"Actually, parents should simply be banned. After all, if it weren't for parents infecting children with their radical religious and political beliefs, the world would be far more harmonious.

Forced sterilization and federally controlled child conception is the only solution. Suitable parents would be selected and given permission to donate sperm and ova. Once the child was born, it would be immediately taken from its neutral surrogate and placed in a federal child development center where the child would grow to learn that the State is god and individual freedoms are a detriment to society."
