Should I report this or not?

So I live in a very good community (low crime, low drug use, high income)....

Both of my kids have been going to the pool rec center for lessons for 3 years now, as I was taking my 4 yo son to the men's room to change, I noticed two young staff members (a boy and girl both in uniforms) in the lower level pool booth (no lights were on). A pool booth is a small enclosed room with glass surrounding it. A young girl (looked to be 13 or so) was holding a lit lighter to what appeared to be rolled up joint/roach, she saw me through the glass and quickly cut off the lighter and hid what she had in a lower drawer.

So my feeling is to report this to the pool management or I'm simply overreacting.

I wouldn't say anything. It's none of my business, and I have better things to do than shit on people's lives.

1. Don't you need to be 16 years old to work?
2. It could have been a cigarette or homemade cigarette.

I would let it slide unless they were lifeguards.

If they are lifeguards, and were supposed to be/will be shortly on duty, then definitely let someone know. Otherwise, who cares?

Report them, after you tell them to get off your lawn.

Although if they are actually on duty life guards getting high, then I guess that is dangerous, so maybe a reporting is in order. In the end though, it's your word vs. theirs, unless there is video evidence.

I've called the cops on some kids meandering around the neighborhood that were smoking pot. Didn't need an ATOT thread to justify it. At some point you reach the age where you're comfortable being captain buzzkill. I am there.

How do you know they were lifeguards?

Were they on-duty? Break? Before / after their shift?

If they were getting high on their break, that could definitely endanger other people.

They were wearing uniforms and on the physical property.

Keep an eye on yours and if you see it again report it. Let it slide this time since you dont know if they were gonna be on duty.

You never know that that kid could end up going home once reported and be BEAT by a terrible parent senseless.

if they were of lifesaving duty, report it. If they're there just for the tickets, it's not as critical and it may have been a rolled up cigarette as well so the chance is not worth the effort.

EDIT: Oh well, if you can do it via e-mail by sending it directly to someone in charge, it's too easy not to do it.

I love the whole ATOT "weed isn't bad!" garbage that continues to get posted.

OP, go ahead and ignore it. And, when you leave your kid swimming under their supervision and something happens, be sure to let us all know.

Regardless of your feelings on the legality of marijuana, to deny that it impairs judgement is just plain stupid. These kids are supposed to be in a position to save lives. Any impairment is enough to cause an issue. You don't mind your own business. These kids were doing something not only illegal, but dangerous when they are supposed to be able to save a drowning child. I would have went over and busted them myself, had I seen it happen.

Can't you just talk to them straight in the face that if you see them high while guarding the pool they will be in trouble instead of being a coward? To be fair I might view reporting things to the police differently than the rest of civilized world because my country was under russian occupation and cooperating with the authorities was seen as collaborating with the oppressor.
