I have a small home network (2 comps, may add the third, 4th to follow in June[mil moving in]) Sharing a DSL connection with a RT314 router. I got myself a HP 667 Celeron Mini tower that I have loaded Clark Connect Gateway software. My idea here was to put all the swap files (music, jokes, driver d/l's) on one system (i currently have a small drive on the wifes comp that is shared). All I would be using this space would be just a place to store things.
After getting Clark connect up and running, I was able to get the ip from the DSL ISP but I couldn't get the router to see the server. I tried disabling DNS to no avail. Also I want to eliminate the firewall portion of the router and go strictly with the Clark connect (linux) firewall DNS.
Would a switch better serve me for this. One of the downfalls of the CLark Connect is you have to access it through another computer using a webbased interface (which would be great if I could).
Is there any way to make my router act JUST like a switch without all the IP issues OR Should I just go spend the 50 bucks?
thanks in advance.
