And for 200 you can just as easily drop another $50 and get the much better 6800GT. Additionally, that X800XTPE deal for 229 is also an example.

If he'll spend the $50, or can get the XT PE for $229, those are better deals. I was just saying that $199 is a fair price for this card, and it's a pretty good card.

I agree.

I was merely exaggerating on my first post. Obviously, if an X800Pro had been offered to me for free or something i would take it. Or if it was a really good deal.

Alright this ati thread has been broken by Nvidia. BongStalk has come forward to sell me his WinFast A400 Geforce6800 GT TDH for $225. Not that i necessarily think the 6800GT is better than the X800Pro but because my last three cards have been Radeons and it's time for a change.:D Can't wait to get my hands on this puppy.

EXCEPT HE CAN ACTUALLY GET THE PRO.

If you know anything about the XT PE deal you know that ATI can cancel it any time between now and whenever the decide to ship it. Plus, at least 2000 people are ahead of him when it comes to actually getting one of those XT PEs. In any case, there is no ship date for them. If he wants that card now, he can just order it. Addtionally, there is a coupon over on FW, I believe that takes 5% off, basically giving him free shipping.

I've thought about this too, blckgrffn. But I've come to the conclusion that ATI MUST have an adequate supply of them on hand or plan to substitute with X850XT PEs should supply of the X800XT PE run out.

The ATI store still shows the X800XT PE as available for preorder and they MUST be keeping an eye on the number of orders coming in for it after having it up for nearly two weeks now. If the number of orders was at/exceeding the number of available cards you'd think they would've pulled the card from the site.

I have a feeling they're ridding themselves of excess cards in anticipation of the R500 lineup release. Once they're out, ATI might have a tough time selling their current supply of X800 cards so they're dumping them now while they have a chance.

This is my feeling also. Ordered July 31 and will cancell if no card sent by August 25 or so. As a last upgrade for a p2.4c at 3.0 - spending any more on agp would be a waste.
