why not try the "reward" route, instead of punishing him. Off him some cool games, if he gets higher marks. Something like that, something more positive.

i think my parents just gave up on him. i mean, this isnt the first time he did bad in school, but it is definitely the worst he's done in school. his 7th grade teachers were gonna hold him back, but he cleaned up his act later in the year and flew through 8th grade. now, whenever anybody ever tries punishing him, he goes straight to the "well ned does this and that, and he doesnt get in trouble" story.

and p.s. - we are full brothers.

The problem is more than just a computer, its happened before and now its happening again. If he flew through 8th grade he's clearly ok with the work, its just a matter of him buckling down and doing it. I think maybe you should help him aquire and maintain a work ethic before you go punishing. Let him have the computer, but sit down and spend some time with him, make sure he does homework and tries with school.

I was able to make it through high school with little more than just paying attention in class and scribbling down some homework in homeroom every morning. But it didn't start out that way, I had to learn how to get the work done, how to take the right notes, and how to hand in the important stuff so that my grades would be As or Bs.

Teach him to work! Reward him with the computer, don't punish him with it. Then again, he's what, 14, 15? He should probably know better by now, he is kinda a bitch from what I see.

Take it away until his grades meet with your approval. That is exactly what i do with my teenager. His grades slip then his access to his pc slips as well.

Quoted for truth. Either that or his father is just sick of the incessant whining of this 8 year old in a 14YOs body

No offense dude but your brother is a freaking moron if he has grades like that in hs and in no way does he deserve a comp like that.

sirplayalot -
If you get your computer back then congratulations on being a whiney loser. You should be freaking embarrassed that you are failing simple classes. Do you really think that people will find you "cool" or "interesting" if you fail classes and play computer games all day?
Basically you come off as a dumb (literally, look at your grades) kid who has a hell of a lot of growing up to do. Damn, even your parent's gave up on you; that is sad.
