Should I get the Xbox One instead of PS4 if I'm not interested in PS4's exclusives but interested in Xbox One's exclusives. If I end up with Xbox One, it will also be used for multiplatform games.

Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure you answered your own question.

You're asking if you should get the Xbox one... if the games you want to play are on the Xbox one? Is this a serious question?

If you happen to have a decent gaming PC, no point in getting an Xbone. Not too many exclusives to justify it, since most games end up on Windows anyway.

If you don't have a decent gaming PC, and you're not in to PlayStation exclusives, go ahead. I'd wait until the Kinect-less bundle rolls out though because it will be cheaper.

Yes, it's all about the games.

There are quite a few games offered on the console that are not offered on the PC. I would list them, but it has been gone over a million times.

Thank you! I am tired of hearing this argument, when plenty of the xbox exclusives don't end up on PC. Just because a couple Halo's and the original Gears ended up on pc, that isn't the same as "all of them".

For the OP, if the Sony exclusives don't excite you at all, then it seems like the choice is pretty easy.

And it's not even just Xbox (or PS4) exclusives... There are a lot of games on consoles that you just don't get on PC.

So..the topic is as follows:
Statement 1: I like Xbox One exclusives more than PS4 exclusives
Statement 2: Multi-platform games will exist on both
Question: Which console should I get?

Does this seem correct? If so:

Answer: Get a Gameboy Advance

Well, I think the OP is asking if he would be doing himself a disservice by getting an XB1 over a PS4 when games like Batman, Assassin's Creed, Destiny etc may run at a higher resolution or with a bit better AA etc on a PS4.

I would say yes and no. You would be getting the console that has less power, but I don't think it would be such a big difference that you would kick yourself over it. I think the controller preference would be a better point of comparison.

You should buy 10 Xbox 1's. Just in case. Besides, MS needs your money.

At this point, isn't it safe to say the PS4 "won?" So then maybe it gets the better exclusives down the road due to higher market share?

Maybe, but it does seem that way thus far. I guess though if someone wants MS exclusives like Halo and Forza there's no choice unless you can get both.

The first has little to do with the second. Sony's sales lead won't get Halo or Gears or whatever onto the PS4. The One's close enough to the PS4 in power to keep the multi-platform stuff coming to both consoles. It would have to be something where Sony got 75%+ of the market before there was a third-party exodus from Microsoft.

Honestly if I am a third party company I don't know why I would make an exclusive this gen. Just make the same game, and cut down the res or whatever for the Xbone version.

I get doing one or the other when the insides were radically different, but now? Seems like a bad idea when games cost so much to develop.

If anything that might keep MS in the game. Even if the Xbone sells a third as many consoles as the PS4 or whatever, if all the big games are on both then who cares about having one or the other?

I will care a bit...remember that part about "just cut down the resolution" that you said? I don't want that...I want the best one. So that's the system I purchase the game for, the one who gets the best version.

Doubtful. I mean who is this company making exlcusives for Sony that isn't Sony owned. If Sony the parent company wasn't bleeding from every orifice I would say that there is an opportunity for Sony pay for exclusive development (like MS contracting Epic (Gears) and Crytek (Ryse)) but neither has to be winning or losing for that to happen. When you think about it that way the Xbox has a greater chance to have even more exclusives because MS will be driven to bring value to the Xbox and buying exclusivity is an easy way to do that. They can outbid Sony.

Also we shouldn't talk about winners till year 4-5. Heck almost none of the casual gamers. The ones that really push adoption rate has touched these consoles yet. Remember the PS3 was a year late and at one point nearly 20 million behind the X360 and made a pretty substantial comeback. If either consoles get their way this 2-3 million difference will be a drop in the bucket.

But the reality is Win or Lose both consoles are doing very well. The Xbone world wide isn't doing great, but it's still selling in the millions. If your a big Studio (Ubi, EA, A-B, Zenimax) you wouldn't turn away millions of potential customers. For the smaller indie studio's it will be such an insignificant process to port games from one to the other because of near matching hardware that again its a huge disservice to them and their product to limit availability.

OP As for playability the Xbox is within 90% of PQ of the PS4 on the mixed games and the Exclusive games run just as well if not better looking in ways then PS4 games. So it's about the exclusive games and controller. Get whichever has the best combo of that for you.

Sure. I get that for those who understand what a framerate is the PS4 is obviously more attractive, but that isn't most of the market.

For most of the market, the "better" version of the game doesn't matter as much as having the version of the game that connects to the same online network as their friends playing the game.

Both the Xbone and PS4 are able to give players an experience beyond the previous generation which is key.
