It's available at my school soon. Any downsides, or should i upgrade asap? I'd get the 64-bit version (using windows 7).

Thanks!

It will hurt if you're not a fan of the shitty ribbons they added in O2K7 since now Outlook 2K10 has one as well.

I don't see why not if it's easily available to you. from what i've seen and tried in the beta it seems pretty good and similar to 07 in interface.

MS recommends that unless you're dealing with monster spreadsheets that require many gigs of RAM you install the 32 bit version. It will be compatible with any Office addon you might ever want to use, while the 64 bit version most likely won't.

As someone who has been using computers for nearly 20 years, there is nothing wrong with Office 2007/2010's Ribbon interface. Yes. it's different. Yes, some of the stuff are not organized in a "proper" place. It does take some getting used to but overall, it's not a bad interface. More importantly for MS and new users, it's a more intuitive interface for the absolute beginner.

I didnt like it at first, and i like to learn new interfaces os's etc. It has grown on me and i really like that you can minimize the ribbon. Makes the interface clean and the best part about it, you dont have to take extra steps to get it back to do what you want. IE when you click any tab the ribbon comes down.
