I'm not a console gamer, but most of my friends are, so I'd often watch them play COD4.. My old roommate used to play it all the time.

I think I'd enjoy it on pc, so I'm wondering if I should get MW2 when it comes out.

I play Crysis Wars online alot, but could use something different. Plus Crysis kinda rapes my system.

I have an AMD 5000+ X2 with 2GB of ram and an 8800GT

You should wait until release, find out what the state of the PC multiplayer is, and then consider getting it.
Since you talk about Crysis Wars and watching people play (presumably online), then it implies you owuld be interested in MW2 for the online play.

Since there have been many developments with the MW2 PC multiplayer (it's not going to be the same setup as CoD4 MW), you should definitely hold off until release to see the state of MP before even considering purchasing it.
Only when you really know what the MP is like can you make an informed decision.

For most of the average players that only play in pubs, the whole no dedicated server thing is pretty moot. If you liked playing it on xbox, you're going to like playing it on the pc.

Actually, just let your friends buy it and enjoy watching them play it just like you did the first one. Save yourself $60

I've played quite a few matches on xbox 360 live. Didn't have a lot of shitty lagfests at all...

My opinion? If it is released at a $60 price point then no. If it is released at a $50 price point then yes. Its one thing to argue $60 on a console due to licensing. Its another thing to argue $60 on the pc. I'm not angry at Activision for trying to make more money, but i'm going to be angry at gamers if they buy the game anyway and set a precedent for future releases. Plenty of other great games coming out to throw money at.

Thats my .02

I am. They took away features and didn't pay for licensing yet they charge more money.

No dedicated servers = no purchase for me. Poor guys over there made a really bad decision that will affect how many people buy the game. Doh for them. Theres many with the same mindset.....

Same reason why many didnt buy l4d1(like myself) and now why l4d2 is coming out(I heard it finally has dedicated list, but I dont know for sure).

What was for the reason for getting rid of dedicated servers?

I think multiplayer was the one of the big reasons people actually bought the game.

I think multiplayer was the one of the big reasons people actually bought the game.

They said it was to make it easier for people to get into games, and that people were complaining on their forums about hackers all over and not being able to find games and such. I'm not sure how these people failed so hard, I manage to find good servers within the first day of getting a game, and then from there on it's a small matter of jumping in one of your favorites.

The funny thing is they're calling the gamers who want dedicated servers a vocal minority, when their response makes it sound like it was a vocal minority on their forums who made them change it. In my mind if they really cared about gamers being able to play the game they would have put in both systems, it's been done on other games and works. Instead they choose to remove one very popular method because people are complaining in their forums...just seems so stupid to me.

I'd say yes. It's a lot of fun, has replayability, good storyline, and the multiplayer rocks.

If multiplayer is a primary concern, you need to wait it out.

Even if the new matchmaking system works wonderfully, the reality is that there's a huge backlash against it. It's the kind of thing that makes people not buy the game, and multiplayer games are highly dependent on having an activity community.

No matter how your servers are set up, if there is no one to play with, the multiplayer portion of your game sucks. And just now it's looking like the pc version of Cod6 is gonna have a real hard time forming a community.

...and, uh, since anyone else who's interested in the multiplayer portion would also be wise to wait, you've now got an awful lot of people who aren't buying it on principle, and more people who aren't buying it because there's not a community because people aren't buying the game.

So...don't get your hopes up.
