They had a CPO BMW Z4 sitting out front and I asked to test drive it just for fun. It was ALOT of fun, more than I expected, and yea, the performance was amazing and it was a blast. So I bought it.

Whut, Toyota Dealership has BMW CPOs????

never mind, missed the Toyota/BMW. Now that is weird too.

Yeah, but you think that you're better than everyone anyways, regardless of the scenario.

I only find it impressive to the extent that such a person has no regard for "prestige" - that I can respect. That being said, anyone who drives a Yaris is obviously not a driving enthusiast in any form or fashion. That's perfectly fine - we each have our own interests - but many BMW owners, myself included, buy them for the driving experience they offer, not because they're "prestigious." In that respect, BMWs have as much in common with, say, Civic Sis or Mazdaspeed3s than with their nominal "peers," Audis and Mercedes-Benzes. I belong to my local BMW club and there are members who drive everything from Acura RSXs to Evos to Ferraris and Nobles, in addition to BMW owners. What we all have in common is the love of driving. In a couple of weeks I am attending a BMWCCA Performance Driving School at Brainerd International Raceway where I will drive my own car 125+ MPH, an experience that a Yaris can't really offer!

Occasionally you'll see CPO BMWs sold by other dealers or even private parties - once they're certified by BMW, that designation (and the related 6 yr/100K mi warranty) stays with the car.

I can't believe no one's mentioned this. The OP has a 600 mile trip and thinks it's going to be 8+ hours? Yeah, if that plus equals 4 more hours. Unless you're gumballing and pissing in bottle, there ain't no way you're making it in 8 hours.

600 Miles / 80 MPH = 7.5 Hours

Doesn't seem that unreasonable.

That's an average. How long to get out of town? How long to get into town? How long for bathroom/stretch your legs? I used to transport cars in my youth and I can tell you that you are most likely to average 55 even when you drive 80 when you can.

What... He could make it in under 8 hours if he drives 80mph the whole way... Which the OP probably does in a school zone. :p

Used to make 400mi trips 4 times a year... took no shorter than 6 hours. 200 extra miles in 2 hours? That's some REALLY FAST driving. ;)

Why would anyone be in a hurry to get to Gatlinburg, Tennessee? You do know it is possible to visit the Smoky Mts and bypass Gatlinburg?

Side note: Gatlinburg is not found in the FireFox dictionary yet Yekaterinburg is.

I'm more impressed with people willing to buy 5 new wheels and tires instead of 4 despite the fact one will likely never be seen. Speaks more about the owner and their care for the machine.

never worry about a flat tire again.

AAA sucks. It's sort of ok for old people, or others who can't handle simple repair tasks, but they ream you costs, and you still have to wait around. I can plug a tire, and get it pumped up before an AAA contractor even leaves the garage.

i've had AAA for about 9 years now, and have never been reamed on costs. I've used them multiple times, from Jump Starts, to Tows, to Tire Changes (i can handle changing the tire, but when i'm heading to work, i'm not about to get my clothes greasy) and the response time has been pretty damn good. Longest i ever had to wait was about 90 minutes, and that was in the middle of a snowstorm.

It's worked out great for me. A few months ago I got stuck in the company car with a flat. One of the moron techs that had it before me lost the jack. Called AAA and the guy was there in about 20 minutes and had me on my way in another 5. Another time, my buddies car broke down. He called me to come help him out. Instead I just called AAA and had his car towed without ever having to leave the couch. The drivers have never asked to see my card.

My mother used to have AAA, and the service was always miserable. When you add the membership fee, and the cost of making a claim(additional towing fees and whatnot), it wasn't anywhere close to worth it.

stop being a cheapass and upgrade your AAA from (piss poor user) to (i make more than $1 a week)

i have the AAA gold, and towing is FREE within 100 miles
never had ANY additional fees.... and i've definitely used it my fair share. even had them deliver gas a few months ago... ran out at work (i work nights, was running late, and didnt bother to look at my gas guage.) there was a gas station less than a mile away, but AAA brought me 5 gallons of gas... FOR FREE.

Membership costs about 1/2 of what it takes to tow a car 100 miles. so it might be worth it if you expect 100 miles of towing in 2 years. I've been driving for about 25 years, and I think I've had about 40 miles of towing total. AAA membership for that time period would have cost me about $3,125. You can buy a lot of service for that....

AAA Gold Membership is about 80.00 every 2 years ..

Just a random price list from a local towing location:
Towing: $3.00 a mile (first 7 miles free)
so 93 miles = $279
$80 is less than $279 ... original point of poster BUSTED

FLAT TIRE CHANGE $65
JUMP START $65
AFTER 10PM - 7AM and HOLIDAYS Add $30.00
FUEL DELIVERY ? Not Available

yup... you are right.... a flat $40/year is SO not worth it...

These are the rates I'm seeing, and since it doesn't specify a time frame, I have to assume it's an annual fee...

primary member/other household members

Basic $63.75 $35.50
Plus $105.75 $60.00
Premier $125.75 $75.00
