As long as you were reasonably careful in picking your new wheels (that is, you made sure they have the same rolling diameter as stock), there will be no problem using one 18" wheel if necessary, but if it were me I'd just use the Mobility Kit.

Or go to the store and buy a 12VDC compressor for $30.

Oh wait, we're talking about a BMW owner, where the cost of accessories is inversely proportional to the length of their penis.

Yeah, he better get the $130 one.

WTH did I do to deserve this stupid personal attack? The M Mobility kit is a nice package that includes everything you need to safely get back on the road without destroying your damaged tire. If you don't like it, fine, but if anyone is whipping out his E-penis, it's you, jackass.

Heh, I think he's talking about TechBoy. :)

Anyone who would pay $130 for a $30 emergency compressor because it has the BMW badge should be prepared to be mocked. Unless it can be demonstrated that the product is clearly superior, it's a product created for brand whores.

Flats happen but they are still fairly rare. I would not put too much worry into it. Just have a cell phone handy in case something DOES happen.

Or if you don't want to put your car through a long trip get a rental, or cheaper, take the bus, then you have the best of both worlds, you can lay back, and you have plenty of luggage space.

It's not just a compressor, it also includes latex sealant which is fed in through the hose to seal the puncture. The latex sealant, unlike, say, Fix-A-Flat, won't ruin the costly TPMS sensor inside the tire. The most comparable product that doesn't bear a BMW badge is the Conti ComfortKit, which is similar in price (actually I paid less for my M Mobility Kit than you can now buy the Conti kit for - I believe I paid $84 shipped). I fail to see how this is any of your business anyway - you're just coming off as jealous and obnoxious.

Whatever brah, I don't depend on a car to spend time with women. I do just fine in my '01 Crown Vic with 3 hubcaps and no radio.

I wasn't saying I depend on the car. The girl I was with this weekend didn't even know what kind of car I drove until she saw me with it last night. And she's the kind of girl that doesnt care what I drive.

and you seem like the kind of dude that does care. ...so what does that say?

I do care about my car.. yes. I don't care what people think about me in it. I'm not the biggest fan of how the car looks honestly, but I LOVE the way it drives, which is why i bought it. Its fun.

damn it! I expected a nonsense douchey reply :|

I would fly. Z4 is a great car but not the most comfortable. I have no question the car could make the trip and back without a problem but you might want to kill yourself after riding in that little car for 25+ hours.

Fair enough, thank you for at least showing how it's a superior product.

As for being jealous, I don't think so. I could drive a BMW if I wanted to be pretentious, I just choose not to. BMW owners are like lawyers, they're a group of people just begging to made fun of. Don't be mad at me just because you happen to be both.

I think you're lumping all BMW owners into one group, when there are several distinct ones.

Some people like driving BMW's because they have amazing performance and are a blast to drive. Don't always assume.

I'm not saying that the groups are 50/50 :) Just saying.

I don't understand how 'BMW' owners get grouped together like that. Couldn't you say that about Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Audi, etc.??

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't the whole point of having a car like that to be driving it? I think taking a trip in that area of the country this time of year should actually be enhanced by that car (drop the top and enjoy the sunshine and decent scenery). How big is your amp and guitar? I would think that you could maybe secure the amp in the passenger seat, fit the guitar in the trunk and stick your suitcase in the passenger floorboard.

Yea, like I said earlier, I don't even like the look of my car all too much. I totalled my honda accord, and was out car shopping. I stopped by a Toyota/BMW dealer because I was looking at Camrys. They had a CPO BMW Z4 sitting out front and I asked to test drive it just for fun. It was ALOT of fun, more than I expected, and yea, the performance was amazing and it was a blast. So I bought it.

Yes, there are people who get so uptight about what other people drive that it bothers them. Just ignore it and enjoy your car.

I want passenger. Preferably this girl I just became friends with. So not only would I not have that room for my stuff, she wouldn't have room for hers. We can put our stuff in someone else's car though since there is a bunch of cars going.

No offense taken as it relates to being an attorney - I think in many ways the profession gets a bad rap, but it's certainly not something I'm particularly proud of. I do think, though, that the BMW hype is justified from the standpoint that they offer such an excellent driving experience. IMO Porsche is the only mainstream carmaker that shares BMW's overriding focus on the driver, and obviously Porsches are far less practical as daily drivers and cost a lot more to buy and maintain. I don't care at all about perceived prestige - if I thought Honda, Mazda or even Hyundai offered a car that was more compelling to drive than a 3 series, while being comparably practical, I'd buy one. They don't.

FWIW, I agree many BMW drivers are tools, and I actually go out of my way to drive my car courteously - I always yield to others and stop in parking lots to let pedestrians past. Out on the freeway the car gets the best of me, though, and I end up hurtling along grinning like a mental patient . . .

Why would you buy a car that you don't like the look of?

But, on to the point, you should have considered all of your concerns before buying the car. Now you live with them, or sell the car. Why have it if you aren't gonna drive it? Take it on the road trip dummy.

Yep. Anyone knocking on BMW that hard for no real reason is either jealous or very confused.

yep. it never gets old. I thought the novelty of having my z4 would wear off over time. I still get just as excited to drive it now than I did when I first got it. Actually, I enjoy it more now than ever because I know the car better and know how to work it.

Yeah same with me. I can't help but look back at my car a couple times every time I get out, just too sexy.

BMW's have enough easter eggs that it still surprises me once in a while, too :)

First off, no one is that impressed by a BMW Z4.

Secondly, it's 600 miles...that's not all that far. You don't need to put on your 18s (wow, you have 19s on the car, awesome) or carry a full size spare. Get a can of fix-a-flat and a AAA card and your G2G.

I'm more impressed by someone who has buckets of cash but drives something simple, like my Yaris. :)
