I just ordered some delivery and there's a small delivery charge. I plan on just deducting this from the tip. Is that typical practice?

Depends - my franchise only charges a buck for delivery. The driver gets compensated for their mileage at the end of the might, but that money does not go directly to them.
That said, you should be tipping more than that.

More is always better, but not expected, $2-$3 is about right for a normal pizza order. If you are ordering more than 2 pizzas, obviously tip more. I'd say $2 per pizza is good.

Considering that the money for the delivery charge does not go towards the driver in most cases - don't deduct it.
