Check the availability of the torrent your downloading. (right click it > Show Details) If its 0.999 or less, then its the torrents fault(people not seeding) and not your software.

Hmm, you are right. It is at .999 exactly! Do these ever fix themselves? Bleh...

But anyhow, is Azureus the best client to use in you guys' opinions? Any others that give benefits?

This doesn't fix themselves, you will still need to get a seeder that has 1.0 and then you will be able to get the whole file. In this case try to find torrent files that has ratio of at least 2.0 and nearly for sure you'll be getting the whole package without having to wait for somebody to seed it.

I use Azureus and it downloads everything fine.

How many files have you actually had hang at 99.9? Try downloading some other stuff just to check it.

peer guardian is your friend. did you download a fake? or are you getting spammed with bad packets. safepeer for azureus also helps

and yes if swarm doesn't have a full copy in total or seeds you are screwed until the seed comes back if ever.

I use Burst. It's lean and mean. I've been using Azerus lately and it's horribly bloated. Give burst a try.

Thats the client I use as well.

Azureus uses Sun Java, so check that you're using the latest version:
"Java Runtime Environment 5.0 update 5".
Varying the "max upload rate" can affect the download rate.
For example: leave the upload rate at "unlimited" for about 10 minutes, then lower the setting to 7k /second.
"BitLord 1.1" works best for me, although occasionally Azureus gives better transfer results.

I have the same problems sometimes.

If it's a .avi file then usually at 99.9% it's ok. But if it's a bunch of .RAR files...then no, it will not work at 99.9% for me. I'm using BitTornado.

The reason sometimes you see 99.9% is b/c people purposely alter a file to not be 100% so that you end up uploading more. Just a gimmick to get ppl to upload more.

its the torrents not the client,

and no most if not all files will not work at 99.99% done, that last hash is important

I never got Azureus to work satisfactorily. I am leery clients that don't adhere to the BT protocol, such as BitComet. Many torrent sites are private, and keep track of their user's U/D ratio, banning those who don't seed. Clients that don't follow the BT protocols usually fail to report their U/D properly, resulting in improper U/D ratios. 🙁 Azureus does follow the BT protocol, but, like I said, I never had it working to my satisfaction.

I used to use BitSpirit, but it also strays slightly from the BT protocol, almost getting me banned from one of my favorite torrent sites. 🙁

At the moment, I'm using BitLord.

It's the RIAA trying to discourage you from downloading. Seriously.

I had problems with Azureus after upgrading to the newest version. Went back to an older version and it worked fine again. Running 2.2.0.2

peer guardian is your friend. use it with azureus. and perhaps safepeer too.

and yes, the mpaa is spamming some torrents with sh*t.

as BT bible says :

" Azureus- Another very popular client. This has recently become my client of choice, but I don?t recommend it to people who don?t have strong computers. Supports UPnP, NAT traversal, scheduling, and it?s very very easy to start a torrent and seed it yourself. This client uses the Java VM, and as such it?s available to just about every computer platform (linux, windows, mac), but the java VM has a nasty habit of bloating the longer it runs. It WILL slow down your computer after extended downloading/uploading.

BitComet- This client is gaining in popularity. I don?t like it. Here?s why. It uses a variation on the original client that was never intended: multi-tracker announcing. Think of it like this: A torrent is hosted by a tracker. The tracker keeps track of everybody uploading and downloading the file and their information. Trackers can have hundreds of thousands of users at one time. This client announces you across every tracker connected to the torrent, as an attempt to get you more speed. I?d say about 20-50% of the time, it works. The issue is, you?re getting more than your share, plus you?re sticking your butt on the line. You run a MUCH greater chance of getting busted with a multi-tracker-announcing client than you do otherwise. Other than that it?s a solid client, has scheduling and UPnP support, doesn?t use JAVA. >>>Update: at the request of MensaMan, lokitorrent.com VIP, I am adding that multi-tracker announcing *could* be the future of torrenting, as it decentralizes the tracker. If it becomes more widely accepted, I?ll go with it. It?s my opinion that it was added to this client to cheat and get better downloads, but all?s fair in love and piracy, I suppose. "

So that is the reason i use Azureus even if uses up alot memory but i have a fast computer so it doesn't matter.
