Should I buy my son a Ferrari or a Lamborghini?

My son gets excited the moment he sees one. I know its the love of his life and it will be his first. Which one should I get for him? I can get both, but I don't want to spoil him.

Clearly, you are one of the poors.

"Or" he says - and then tries to hide the fact that he is living in poverty by claiming he 'could' buy both, but doesn't want to spoil his son.

Please, we see right through you.

Well, to be fair, it's possible his son got a B instead of an A in a class once, and therefore does not deserve both.

I thought the real status symbol these days is a Prius? If you get him either one of those cars you might as well get him a top hat and monacle to go with it. Ostentatious displays of wealth are out.

If you're buying something for gas mileage, it's probably because you're poor. Guys with money don't care how much gas something burns. This is why luxury cars always have huge engines.

I think this should settle it.

 How much do you think a Lamborghini or Ferrari cost?

A condo on the coast (here anyway) would cost you well into the millions.

Depends on the Lambo...

But yea I was being vague. Condo prices in NW Florida gulf area were all over the places. 2 unit condo on private beach? Yea, expensive. Condo in a large complex? No so bad.

You could get used Gallardos here all day every day for a year in the $140-150k range. Ferraris go for a little more but you could pick up a 458 Italia for $260k easily.

Here's a nice 1500 sq ft townhouse a few blocks from the beach in Carlsbad for $775k.

Man those prices are just outrageous. I dont know how anyone can afford to live there. I used to live right by there not long ago and it was so weird seeing the 100k BMWs driving by bums all day. Such a weird juxtaposition.

It doesn't matter as long as you get 1 for everyday of the week. Driving the same car you've already driven earlier in the week is so bourgeois.

It's not for gas mileage. It's for being conspicuously humble and environmentally aware. It wouldn't be necessary to do that except that the pleb have taken over the society. If you don't make them believe you're just like them they tear you apart.

Yep. He's transparent. So OP, what kind of dress are you going to get?

If you can't decide just buy both so that way he has a backup in case he wrecks one of them.
