I say turn her in. I hate people that do stuff like that, especially when it's dead obvious. Hopefully file dates will be enough to prove your case.

Otherwise, make sure you take her for as much $$ as you can.
 
Look at it this way: If she's so dumb that she has to copy your 'intro to java' assignments, then help her 'decide' to change her major by reporting her. 😉

hehe...keep in mind that this guy is also in progamming class, and he's an ATOTer 🙂Q)... hehe There are exceptions to the rule, but most of the time, stereotype is true 😉.

anyhoot, i hate programming, but it's required for graphic design majors in the New Media department here at IUPUI.

Hers: "//minipulates for the zero"

And that sentence doesn't even make sense! "Manipulates for the zero"?

Copying is one thing .. copying and being a complete idiot in the process is another.

All the more reason to turn her a$$ in. People that stupid have no business in the program. Qualified programmers have enough trouble getting work, more useless fluff is not needed!
 
Wonder if this trick works at other schools:

At GA Tech, everyone's e-mail address could also be used to bring up their CS1321 web site. For example, when you search for someone, at the very least, you get their gatech e-mail address, something like "gteXYZ@mail.gatech.edu." You could then plug that gteXYZ into the URL, http://prism.gatech.edu/~gteXYZ and bring up their CS1321 web site. Those sites, more often than not, had pics.

We had to have some way to find out if the girl e-mailing us was hot or not 🙂
 
Is she hot? If so, tell her that if she wants your code, then you want "something" from her! 😉😛

Seriously, don't go to the professor. If there are any honor code or cheating problems to occur, simply point out the time stamps on the files. If this stuff was old, then her code will show up as the newer stuff. Since you have email, maybe sametime (er, Instant messaging), why don't you give her a friendly comment about her java site. Tell her that after seeing her site, you think that great minds think alike! And maybe you two could study sometime.

See what she say to that.





Oh, and do what SagaLore is telling you to do. Who knows, you might get an 'A' just for virus programming. 😀
 
she must not know ANYTHING about programming if she is copying such a simple assignment

i say approach her this time. then if she does it again, go to the professor
 
If you have an honor code you can get in trouble for knowing that she cheated and not reporting it.
Probably will hurt your case if you both get accused.
 
You have to turn her in. Trust me, as a TA I've busted groups of people when I thought they were cheating together, and someone might think that of you and the girl in question.

You should include random weirdnesses in your code (extra spaces, slightly odd punctuation) and then you'll know for sure.
 
if it is an extremely baisc class and a lot of majors need it, she might be hot. look at cis105. like others had posted, if she is hot, then i would talk to her about it. if not, the prof will see it and you could show your work from 2+years ago, which should seal her fate.

or if you have been sh!t on by a bunch of hot girls, then fry her, this is a perfect opportunity.

she has a major in cut/paste 🙁
 
I'd go straight to the prof. The hell with her and her future. If you decide to cheat, then you must learn to accept the consequence. If that was my prof, he would fail me and the girl no questions asked and I'd have to try to prove I didn?t copy it... and all that bs, which takes a lot more effort and grief then handing her ass over to the prof.

Geez, some of you guys would bend over backward for a pretty little skirt. CYA first.
