Nice, what are you running your card at?

I got P6920 with Rig in system, but that was at 4.0GHz and 1125/1350

I will run it again tonight since I bumped the GPU up last week, but this past weekend had time to run some testing on my CPU. I can hit 5.0 GHz with my chip, but ended up sticking to 4.6 GHz.

I was running at 4.0 GHz before as never really had a need to go higher. (and was able to do it at stock volts)

Towards end of last week had it at 4.4, now at 4.6.

I won't go higher for daily use now until end of its life with me. 4.6 is plenty.

I'm actually overclocking sooner than anticpated, but I have a cool room, tons of Case Fans and good chips.... so my temps are excellent.

I ordered a 2nd 7850

Asus model to match my first one.

Hoping to have mid week.

Was thinking about it last week and saw a Asus come in stock and grabbed it.

Don I'm considering adding another 7850 as well.

In the best case scenario it will be 30-50% faster than a 7970, but there are a lot of drawbacks as well. Crossfire isn't ideal.

I think a better idea would be to wait at least another 6 months or so for prices to settle some more.

Amazon and newegg are oos on the Asus 7850 or I would have ordered one today

They've had them for $245 shipped here in Canada lately. I'm wishing I had gone with the Asus. They seem like much better cards overall.

Ill probably putting Goliath up for sale in the fs section. Probably getting a 680 from a member
Very nice. :)

It seems that we're both not completely happy with the performance of the 7850. I was under the impression that I would be able to run any game at 1080p on it maxed out, when in reality Crysis and Crysis 2 require something more powerful (probably Metro 2033 and a few other games as well).

everybody's definition of b eing able to run a game maxed out is different.

I'm not content with my 1125mhz 7970 in crysis 2 maxed out @ 1080, that's not saying it isn't playable.

7850 CF stock is as fast as 6990 or 6970 CF. So I would any day choose an 7970 OC over it.

7850 30% OC CF is about as fast as 580 SLI so it is a bit faster but not enough to make your experience better.

Because with CF/SLI 90 FPS will probably give you the smoothness of 60+ FPS anyway besides the microstutter, driver issues, compatibility issues etc. And there will only be 5% of cases where a 7970 OC isn't playable while a 7850 OC CF or 580 stock SLI is. Normally the dual gpus will be faster but may not be smoother because dual gpus aren't as smooth anyway until the FPS are at least 50% more which is the max you will get in this case. So many people would prefer 7850 30% oc CF over 7970 OC but considering the experience is a bit downhill but FPS are significantly faster and other issues, they are comparable setups and I wouldn't buy a dual gpu unless it was a 7950 OC CF or above and preferably just single GPU unless I can afford to keep the other one off half the time.

IMO I would get t he 7970 1200 1600 over a 7850 OC CF but the dual GPU will be noticeably faster many times but probably not as smooth and with other issues. So it is a personal choice.

And with my 7970 1175 1625 and 16gig and 2600k @ 4.3, Crysis 2 1080p Max with ultra rez pack with Dx11 rarely drops below 50-60 FPS and avg is definitely a lot higher than 60+ FPS at the very least. It doesn't drop below 50s more than rarely. I see no problem at all. Metro I can't max at 1080p. Crysis 1 I can max and it is pretty good but not perfect. But Crysis 1 at stock 1080p is pretty bad. Crysis 2 1440p Max with my current OC gives playable performance, not perfect, but playable, avg FPS 50+ or so. But 1080p is nearly perfect for both Crysis 1 and Crysis 2. But not for Metro.

BF3 I can play at:
1080p 4x MSAA 4x AA Max with avg 70-90+ FPS during fights with rarely below 60-70 FPS anytime.

1440p no AA no AA, Max with avg 60-80 FPS with occasionally below 60 FPS and pretty much never below 50-55 FPS. The playing experience is nearly the same in both cases but 1440p may look slightly better. But the experience is very similar because even during fights I get 60+ pretty much always.

Yeah Crysis 2 is a hardware headache, similar to your avatar.

I hate how it performs well in some areas but very poorly in others. My framerate fluctuates wildly in that game.

I'm surprised you're not happy with the 7970, though. It's making me think that even with another 7850 I won't be happy. That said, I *never* drop below 30fps on Ultra settings, so Crossfire might double that to 60fps and make me happy. *shrug*

I was just notified that my 7850 order for a 2nd Asus model was out of stock.

Decided to cancel order. Holding out for now unless I get the impulse itch on a 2nd in stock Asus.

I am actually happy with my 7850.... since its performing like a 7950

There was a link to an Asus 7850 in another thread for ~$240. I was hoping you would get it because I'm interested as well. I think it will soundly beat a GTX 680 across the board. The only real downfall is the potential lack of crossfire profiles, IMO. The Asus cards run cool and quiet so heat and noise should not be factors.
