TBH, I'm only playing BF3 to unlock all the gadgets and whatnot.

Aside from the awesome eye and ear-candy, I can't say that I'm actually having any fun at all...

Its love and hate thing with me. I play non stop for a couple of weeks, then get so disgusted I dont play for awhile. But there is no alternative as far as I'm concerned. The only shooters that people play these days are Battlefield and COD. I dont think I could handle the downtime in CS like I used to.

such is the life of old games. Sad, 2k4 was great fun. But now it's impossible to play outside of lan parties.

There are still populated Onslaught servers, at least in the North American evening. There is also the excellent Invasion-RPG mod which has populated servers. Look for the Omnip)o(tents and Clan DW (Death Warrant) servers.

I remember that game. Loved playing the demo so bought the full game about 3-6 months after release. Then found out that except of a few over seas servers, the only servers with people playing on them was servers running the demo maps.

what a waste of money buy at that point in time was.

Are you talking about UT3 or UT 2004? The real action was for the original UT--UT99 (aka UT GOTY). UT99 was the best and thousands of people played it at any one time back in 1999-2004.

Epic should re-make UT again with an updated graphics engine. But make the game mechanics exactly like the original UT. That was the best. Capture the Flag with instagib shock rifles and low grav was fun.

I agree. Sadly it will probably never happen. If Epic makes another UT it will end up consolized again.

If there is anyone who used to love 2K4, but quit for whatever reason, please think of coming back.

I miss the times when there were tons of clans and players. We spent years playing this game every week.

How can you just quit something like that one day and decide and decide to play something else? :\

Theres about 40 games running and only 6 of them actually have people playing.

I recall a time when there were hundreds of games with thousands of people.

And the bots are either way too easy for me, or way too hard. Still havent found a perfect level even with what is it, like 9 difficulty settings?

Actually, if you could only find 6 servers where there was people playing, you're probably not using a legit full version of UT2004.

Demo and pirate fullversion players can see/play only on like 1/10th of servers (90% of them are demo servers).

As a person who still spends hours on end a week playing UT3 after 4 years its a game that never gets old sometimes i have that run n gun style in BF3 and BC2 and it costs me dearly sometimes lol.

While not owning ut2004 i have played the demo and i could tell why people love ut2004 more then ut3...the attitude and the maps are to be forever perhaps i will buy it on steam but are these older games fixed to run on widescreen monitors?

If you think people love UT 2004 more than UT3, you should have seen the love people had for the original UT99.

Okay maybe I was wrong, there's also a chance the master server returned incomplete servers list - it does that very often. Lately it's been completely down.

I found this petition which asks Epic to care more for this game, I think it would be a good idea to sign it:

You can't select wide resolutions from game settings, but it can be done from ini or by console command.
Look for "FullscreenViewport" in your game's INI file.

Or use this command in game: "setres 1920x1080". (example)
Also, you should change the FOV, use this command: FOV 110.
FOV can be changed in the INI file too, but it's better to adjust it in game, it's a personal preference. Somewhere around 110 is decent for widescreens.

Even in UT99.

Instead of Steam I'd recommend GOG.com, you'd get a DRM-free version there.
